How long did it take for your papers to reach Bogota after NVC? (still waiting on NVC to acknowledge)

How difficult was it to get a medical appointment?

Am I correct in saying that they only need the copy of passport, OF-169, DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1 initially in order to schedule the appointment? Then the rest of the items for the actual appointment.

The sample packet 3 ask for a police record for her that I give her. She does not know where to obtain this document. Any advice?

Our paperwork left NVC on 8/9/2006 and the Bogota embassy received it on 8/11/06. My fiancee lives in Bogota and received packet 3 on 8/14/06. (I've heard stories of those in Cali or elsewhere not getting their packet 3 as quick as that.)

My fiancee had no problem getting a medical appointment, however she had concerns about the one she selected. His name was Jairo Roa and she suggested y'all avoid him if possible. See thread I posted.

I don't remember exactly what it was she submitted to get the appointment at the embassy scheduled, but I know it was minimal. The information in packet 3 was very clear.

The web site for the U.S. Embassy in Bogota has more information about some of the items requested. The English page is at U.S. Embassy in Bogota. It states, "All Colombian citizens over 18 years old must obtain a police certificate at the nearest DAS (Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad) office."

Hi Rodney,

Read my threads right here in this section; “Tracking Instruction for DHL”, “What is Included in Packet #3” and “Colombian Club”. There I give tips, instructions, short-cuts and general advice.

It took three days for my package to go from NVC to the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia and I track it all the way through. There is no problem getting the Medical appointment and Lab work but you must have the “interview letter” that comes in packet #4 from the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia.

Once the petition gets to the Embassy you or your fiancée faxes and sends by courier (Servientrega); a copy of your fiancées passport, OF-169, DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1. If the Embassy gets these documents before the cut-off date (varies from month to month 16th to the 20th) then you get the interview the following month. If not by the cut-off date you get the interview the month after that.

I can send you a copy of packet 3 & 4, just send me a e-mail address with atleast 8 MB of space in the inbox because each packet is in PDF file and it is about 4 MB.

Hey Rodney,

I just finish sending you the DS-2001, packet# 3 & 4. Inside packet #3 you have the form OF-169. The police certificate she gets it at DAS, tell her to call and make an appointment because she needs to go to a specific place to pay the fee usually it is at a bank. This is why I asked you in which city she lives.
