How long does it take to get your tax transcripts after you file.

I did my 2011 about 4 weeks ago. And will be filing my 2009 tomorrow (I know I know).

Just getting my stuff together before the next stage which is NVC.

I mailed my return 2011 on March 4. The transcript was available to order April 10 online. It took another week for it to show up in my mailbox.

Oh WOW thanks for the quick response. A month that's so cool. I heard if you owe just show your payment voucher of the set up of payments I guess. I am just hoping by that stage all will be clear and okay.

isn't a photocopy of tax return good enough? I filed my 2011 return April 17th, guess transcripts not available till late June. So I am thinking to submit photocopy only.

I spoke with IRS today the agent told me if you owe and do not plan to pay immediately they wont work on your returns until the seond week of may. After that it takes about 10 days to receive the transcript. So the agent says end of may before transcript is available but if you pay fully transcript will be available immediately.....am in the same quagmire I filed but havent been able to order 2011 transcript yet....

It is, but you have to be certain that you have included all relevant W-2s, Schedules, attachments, etc., not just the return. It is that reason why transcripts are generally preferable.

I am self-employed, don't have W-2s, 1099 etc. So shall I submit 1040 + schedule C for 2011 first, and then request transcripts as a backup at interview?

Yeah. Any other Schedules too.

If you checked box 22(b) (self-employed), you should have completed one of the following forms with your Federal income tax return: Schedule C (Profit or Loss from Business), Schedule D (Capital Gains), Schedule E (Supplemental Income or Loss) or Schedule F (Profit or Loss from Farming). You must include each and every Form 1040 Schedule, if any, that you filed with your Federal tax return.

oh i guess we about at the same stage of this process so i will tell you what i know so far, your 2011 tax transcripts wont be available to you until june 15th which be after the irs has finished processing everyone who filed this year and to get your 2009, 2010 tax transcipts you can order them now online at www.irs.gov or you can call irs at 1-800-829-1041 and you will get them in 7-15 business days after you order them but in some cases it may just take 7-10 business days. good luck.

I have my transcripts for 2008, 2009, 2010. However for 2009 I have not filed yet (only worked 7 weeks that year) so I have filed and figured would use the transcripts to show the W2 and 1099 and have a copy of 1040 just in case interview comes before I get the completed transcripts.

I figure really they want to know about what I'm making now not 3 years ago.

Just pray for me that I land a job soonest. This unemployment is weighing heavily on me. Ughhhhhh
