Hi Everyone

I just recently moved to the USA to be with my fiancee about a month ago. We are planning on getting married within the next 2 weeks. After we are officially married I know we have to file for m AOS, and Im unsure on a few things:

Does AOS get processed at the same place our K-1 visa was processed (we filed at vermont) or somewhere else?

and while AOS is processing do i get permission to work? I thought after filing for AOS after a month or so you get a temporary work permit for filing the AOS being able to work until AOS is approved.

im not sure if im understanding this all right is all.

I read the guide on here about AOS, i just want to be sure if i missed anything or if im understanding this all right!

thanks!!

Hi, Congratulations on getting to the USA.

The AOS get's processed at the relevant service center for your area, the guides will give you more information on where to send it.

Just also to add, you CANNOT work while you are waiting for your AOS to take place UNLESS you have applied for EAD (a temporary document for you to take up employment in the United States) and RECEIVED the EAD authorisation. If you work before this, you'll be working illegally.

When your AOS is approved you will normally receive a two year conditional green card which entitles you to work.

AOS is processed where it is processed for EVERYONE - the national benefits center.

Please see the guide and read the instructions.

Moving this to the AOS forums.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

No, they are not processed at Vermont. The I-485 instructions have the Chicago Lockbox address where you will mail it.

Yes, 2-3 months after filing you will receive your EAD card, IF you applied for it by also sending in the I-765 with your I-485. If you also send in the I-131 to be able to travel while waiting for your green card, you will receive an EAD/AP combo card.
