Need to fly out of country-Passport expired

Help! My husband just found out his father is dying and we quickly used points to book a flight on the only available date, in six days! We then realized that his passport is expired and he is flying to Uruguay from Wisconsin. Can he still fly there if his passport is expired? What to do??

There is an emergency passport you can get from USA even if not a citizen..I dont know how you go about it but i know that its possible cuz I know people that have done it.

Yes one of my auntis nieces flew to Serbia for my wedding using it and she flew from Wisconsin or Chicago im not sure since she lives in WI.
