The person interviewing was using scare tactics. He asked her to describe my house. He proceeded to tell her that he was going to send police officers to my home to see if the home description would match. He then asked her if all the information was true in our application. She started to talk and I have no idea what happened but they sent her back.

My fiancee is not fluent in english, so I think that the word police and arrested threw her off the charts.

Everybody has a boss. suggest you contact the assistant boss at the CBP POE and file a formal complaint. This 'fella' was doing it wrong, for entrance into the USA for a K-1 visa holder.

I've never heard of anyone wearing their wedding ring before marriage (other than you). I know married women who wear their wedding band on the outside of their ring due to the design of the rings. I would see someone wearing a wedding rind and assume they were married. Guess you learn something new every day...

Really lol It's a set

Wife did not make it past homeland and got k-1 cancelled :bonk:

Assuming that there was no overt irregularity (such as a married person trying to enter on a K-1), or that CBP found something that the consulate had overlooked, I very highly recommend that the OP follow Darnell's advice in post #93 just above.

Getting a lawyer is a good idea, but Darnell's recommendation is the speediest path toward learning what happened and divining a possible solution.

Before Mrs. T-B.-to-be was to enter, I asked a (very sharp) immigration attorney about the possibility and frequency of K-1 holders' being denied entry at POE. He said, "It doesn't happen very often, because CBP figures that the person has recently been grilled by the consulate. However, any K-1 entrant can be refused entry for any reason that the consulate would have found to refuse issuance of the visa."

Nor mine could've described my family beyond how many siblings I have

Is there a chance that she needed a translator and none was provided? I know my wife (who speaks English well) was completely lost when she landed in Houston and "whatever it was they were speaking, was not English" (what she described could be nothing more than a thick Texan twang).

Texas is really not USA , it's a whole 'nother kuntry, yah hear

hindsight is painful:

1. always ask for an interpreter

2. she should have stayed in the 'holding tank' with CBP - at least she would be IN the USA, and the procedural errors could have been fixed the next week, with an easier outcome.

3. the CBP officer 'grilling' her , was out of line. You (and anyone else) can't see this in real time, so keeping her in the country would have been useful to 'fix' this fella's procedural errors and uncover other silliness and stupidity.

4. Her lack of English? that part was taken advantage of, she was quickly sent elsewhere.

5. the airlines were trying to coerce the man into paying for the ticket. Not paying for the ticket would have been a good thing, as it forces more review of all.

I'm truly sorry this happened to your lass.

Really lol It's a set

So? Mines a set as well but I only wore the engagement ring until after the wedding, then I wore the WEDDING ring denoting I was married. It's likely that if the ring WAS seen it was simply one red flag in a list of things that were off...

OP please update us when you find out what the reasoning of her denial was for at the POE.

This is scary that even though our loved one is grilled mercilessly at the interview, that there is still a chance that they could be denied at the POE. :crying:

If I were in her shoes, she is probably in shock right now. What an ordeal to have to go through.

I hope this gets resolved ASAP.

Good Luck.

So you don't speak Korean and her English is not great. And you were ok with just buying her a ticket home and going home yourself? Was for fiancee wearing her wedding band?

Yeah I was thinking the same, which language do you guys communicate in?

Wedding ring- a red flag, calling your fiance your wife- a red flag. I am sorry but what for us seems to be silly to be denied for, for the officers it is simply a sign something isn't right. I am sorry it happened to you but things do happen for a reason and I am sure the officer had his/her reason to send you fiance back. It's happening so seldom that I don't think it would just happen because someone had a bad day...

Good luck and I hope if your relationship is genuine you will find a way to be with your love!

SO? My opinion is it doesn't matter unless she said he's my husband.I never had a problem with me wearing my set this way; all knew I was engaged.I never said he's my husband before we married :) People have their own customs and the way they wear the rings  It's only my opinion as I said but I don't know what happen with this lady when she arrived
