Hi All,

I've been reading over LingChe's NVC ShortCut's but I have a couple of questions about the IV Package process: (yes we are married, have filed the I-130 and are waiting NOA2 approval...about four months into the journey so I am just "doing some homework" and getting prepared.)

First, LingChe advises you need your Beneficiary's signed documentation, passport biographic data page, long form birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc., however, she also states we need to include the Police Certificate. Nigeria's Police Certificates are only good for three months. Does this mean I will need one from him for the IV Package to the NVC...and my husband should get another before going to the "Consulate Interview"?

Secondly, does anyone know how long the medical examination is good for? My husband and I are trying to "preplan" many of these procedures because he works very odd, long hours. The more we can accomplish now, like vaccinations, the better off we will be when his interview time arrives.

Can anyone advise the rest of the process in greater detail so I don't feel so lost?

Thanks in Advance!

Dana

Dana, I was hoping you would get a reply as we are just over 5 months and still waiting on our NOA2 also. This is what I know we need for the next step at the NVC; however I hope someone else with more knowledge can clear up the rest =)

The first document you need for him to sign is the DS-3032 which is just giving USCIS the right to contact you instead of your husband.

DS-230 which is the actual application for the visa, there are 2 places to sign…BE CAREFUL he only signs the first place. The other will be signed at the interview.

2 passport photos (5cmx5cm) to attach to the police report.

Police Clearance will have to be sent also but it is only valid for 3 months. Keep that in mind since you are now at 4 months wait.

You will also need to get his Birth Attestation. I believe everyone refers to it as the Long Form. My hubby just got his today, if you have any more questions about it I can ask him later

Also you will need the original Marriage License and original divorce certificates (if any)

A copy of his passport Biographic page (the first one)

That will be all you need for packet IV. After that is the I-864 (support form) packet.

I hope that helps you out. Sorry I don’t know more, am just in this like everyone else =) Learn as you go lol. Take care!

Thanks so much! That definitely helps. Although all of this package will be only about him right? They do not need my divorce papers again...and he does not have any. So I send none...is that correct? (You're an amazing help!!!) Thanks!

I'm glad it helped! I am under the impression this is where you would submit all the orignals. When I filed the I-130 we submitted copies. So, Orignal marriage certificate and any divorce papers from your previous divorce, yes. Good Luck!

Hi Dana & Devine, First Welcome to VJ!

To answer some of your questions, just an FYI your K3 will be administratively closed and will revert to a CR1 (if your married less than 2 years) or to an IR1, if married more than 2 years. Go here to read more: K3 Administratively Closed

As far as the medical exam you should wait until you have an interview date as he will have to take that letter to the medical, and yes the Police Clearance lasts for 3 months. My hubby had to get another for his interview after the first one was sent to NVC as it had expired.

I also used this Guide as it was, for me, less confusing and more precise... New Guide

Also don't forget to continue to collect evidence even though you have submitted your petition already. Once you get the interview date, all of this will need to be sent shipped to him for the interview.

God Bless

This is for NVC, not USCIS

Although the NVC stage seems all about the Beneficiary don't forget the most vital part you need to do. The AOS. You should have all your tax transcripts read and I-864 filled out (why wait for them I say).

And off we go. Here's to an NOA2 approval and a expeditious trip through NVC so you husband can be here for summer.

My target is my birthday September 6th.

Oh also be careful about getting medical and vaccinations early. I have seen where the panel physicians will not take vaccination records for some. Its 3 shots and two visits. Plenty of time and police report you know you can pick up in minutes.

Just gather any extra evidence you wanted included in the I-130 that you didn't have before (like us wedding pictures).

Can you hear the jeopardy song going on in your head. Soon you will hear "pens down. The final jeopardy answer is!" ;)

I'm taking notes! :) We are praying for September too...before the end of the year rush. We haven't begun to work on the official medical or vaccinations. We are just lining up an early "intervention" doctors appointment with blood work for him because my husband is 40 and has never been to the doctor. WE just want to head up anything that "may or may not slow it down".

We are also working on the phone records. He and I both work very long hours and we are not online very much. Most of our communication is phone records. We are battling getting these every three months without a hassle and gaps in his records. I use phone cards...which also does not help.

We do have over two thousand pictures. I'm hoping they will help our process and interview.
