Hi, Just returned from visa interview at US embassy in Malaysia.

Results : Does not comply with immigrant act section 221(g)

Action required : New Police Certificates required

Reason : Certificate received in hand was expired, more than a year from date issued

Questions:

1. Does anyone really aware that where or how to verify the police certificate validity? (I just realized there is a validity right after the officer told me the news!!!)

2. I was advised to make appointment again after obtained a new police certificate which will takes some time. Does this mean my application get rejected or post decision reviewed?

3. Actually there is a validity too for medical report. Does any one know how long the report could keep for?

4. Anybody especially Malaysian experience this before?

Please advise...

The 221(g) notice may say how long you have to supply the missing documents. Just go get the certificate and make and appointment to bring it back to the embassy as soon as possible. They'll review your application then and perhaps grant the visa if there are no other problems.

For the medical report, the validity depends on what is in the report. It could be 3 or 6 months.

first be sure that the police certificate needs to be submitted by courier or if you can make an appointment and go back to submit the documents. Each embassy is different so just be sure you do what your embassy requires.

The medical is good for one year. It's the police certificates that are usually only 3 to 6 months but you can't get your medical done until you get your interview letter so your medical should be ok for a while longer.

I needed a new police certificate when I went for my interview. Luckily I had it on hand because I did my research. I went online to the Montreal consulate to see what was required. At the interview they said "This is not longer valid" I handed her a new one and she accepted it without issue.

Good luck
