Timeline

All,

I am looking to get opinions on the risk level behind the following idea, based on the timelines posted here along with the USCIS online processing times (5.6 Months for NY).

As noted on the Jan '12 table my Priority Date is 1/25/12, FP on 2/16/12, still have not received an Int Letter (which is the reason I need to plan based on deduction and expectations).

I am planning on going to Colombia to get married to my fiance, I will be there from 5/16/12 - 6/3/12, based on the timelines and such mentioned earlier I expect this to not be an issue, I am under the assumption that my Int Letter should be coming within the next two weeks (4/30-5/11) at the earliest. Based on the pattern I have noticed the actual Int will be for at least a month later (6/4-6/22). This would be inline or earlier than the 5.6 month turnaround noted on the USCIS portal for the NY Office.

Again, most of this is based on deduction/assumption, all made from timelines for people posting in Dec '11, Jan '12, and Feb '12. I am turning to the senior members who have had the chance to see many more of these timelines and cases to see if my assumptions are correct (or at least VERY probable). I understand there is always a risk but my main goal is to understand how likely it is that my case will be pushed forward when everything seems to be trending to being delayed (since NY Office is over the 5 month national average).

Hope the case/topic is of interest and helps other members/visitors of the site as well,

CF

:)

Well,

First of all I do not depend on the tables USCIS put on their webiste. Cases are different, offices are different. I am sure many members will agree with me on that.

I saw NY offices to be a little bit behind while offices like Cincinnati, OH takes approx 60-80 days frm the filing date all the way to the interview even though the table says(5 month).

So in short:

1: Do not depend on the tables

2: I would not depend on others timelines(every case is different, every office withing the same state is different)

3: If you can postpone, this is your best option

4: If you can not postpone, make sure someone you trust collect your mail, so if you get the interview letter he/she can notify you, or even open the letter and tell you the date of your interview (IF YOU CHOOSE TO), and if your interview will be after you come back  , if not, you have these options:

1: send a letter to the USCIS office handling your case to postpone your interview and mentioning the reason(you will be rescheduled(be aware if NY offices are that packed, this option might make your interview MONTHS later)

2: get back to the US on time to attend the interview as scheduled.

I hope that helps:).
