Hi VJ friends,

I am new to the forum and very excited to start my journey of AOS.

I am getting all the documents ready to file AOS I485 along with I130 forms, spouse based.

We married on March 2012 and I am in US on F1 visa from 2008. My visa has not expired.

I have question regarding preparing package for I-485.

I was under the impression that I have to get Immigration Medical Exam done and get I-693 form- envelope from civil surgeon and submit it along with I-485 form. But the receptionist at civil surgeon's office told me that I need to file I-693 only when I am asked after filing I-485 form from US Immigration.

I am bit confused here and I would like your valuable guidance. The I-693 form instruction clearly says that I need to complete the form and submit it with I485 form. Which way is the right way 10 to get the Med. exam done and file 693 along with 485 package or 2) file 485 and wait for US Immigration to be asked to submit 693 (Med. Exam) form ?

Please help me out.

Thanks.

Journey to Wedding:

entered USA on F1 visa in 2008. I met my better-half in 2010, started dating, decided to marry in 2011. Married in 2012 and filed simultaneously i130 and i485 form on 05/2012. Approved on 08/2012.

Journey for Permanent Resident status from F1 status:

Date Filed : 2012-05-18

NOA Date : 2012-06-02

Bio. Appt. : 2012-06-14

Interview Date : 2012-07-31

Approval / Denial Date : 2012-07-31

Approved : Yes

Don't trust that receptionist. Include the I-693 Form with the I-485. The Guide to adjusting status on this forum agrees: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2
