1099s if you have them or copies of your most recent tax return with all attachments OR most recent year tax transcript. The will go by gross PERSONAL income...line 22 of the 1040.

Hi Yes-- Thank you. I have 1040 Tax Return--problem is I have no W-2 and the instructions say you need BOTH.. I'm a little confused-- I can furnish them w all documents required by IRS to file a tax return. IRS does not require a W-2. Your input is appreciated. Mike

If you are self employed, you do not need the W2, only the full tax return. As Gary stated, you can also order your tax transcript from the IRS. It is free and delivered in about a week, and most of the time contains much less paper than your filed return.

You need both IF you have w-2s. You don't, so you don't need them. In your case the w-2 is replaced with a 1099 and/or a schedule C. Not to worry. If you use a tax transcript you do not need anything else.

Tax transcripts are free from the IRS. Takes about a week for them to arrive. I linked you to the IRS website where you can order them.
