Guys can you tell me if this is correct.I called the Consulate to ask some questions and the gentleman told me that when my fiancee goes to the interview that they DO NOT approve or deny the day of the interview. He said that she goes to the interview and when they are finished she goes home and they process the information and in 8 to 12 weeks they send a letter saying wether or not she is approved. Is this new.because all the info that I have read on here states that they approve it right then and she recieves the visa in a couple of weeks. Please help clear my confusion Thanks guys

yes the person will know if he/she got approved or not..unless he/she got an AP..then it will take weeks, months or even years.

The longer it takes to happen the more you'll appreciate it when it does!

For the most part the consulate will inform you if the visa is approved. If the visa is denied they will inform on how to appeal.

When approved the agent will tell you that it will be sent within 5 days or later. But you get in 5 days.

The consulate does not have to tell you a decision on the day of the interview — some officers will do so, and some won't. It depends on who you get, and the circumstances of your interview.

My wife interviewed for a CR-1 visa and was not given a decision on the same day. The consular officer said something along the lines of "I don't have enough information to give you a decision now, but if you were honest, you should be OK"—hardly an approval in my mind. He then took her passport, and she left, and that was the end of it.

The next day we received a tracking number via DHL, and her visa showed up on the following day—but she left Juarez with no idea whether she was approved or not.

So, if that happens to you, don't worry. If you get your passport back and a waiver form, then you know that you weren't approved, but otherwise, if they take your passport, chances are you were approved. However, you'll know for sure when the package arrives in the mail.

7 Mar 2011 - Mailed the I-130 package

12 Nov 2011 - Became a U.S. resident (+250 days)

18 Sep 2017 - Sworn in as a U.S. citizen (+2137 days)
