Change in N-400 After Filing

Hello,

I wonder if there would be any issue/delay if I was to get married after my fingerprints (2/16) and before my interview date (waiting) which based on time estimates on the USCIS site should be in mid June.

I see that the N-400 would need to be edited for the Part 8 questions. None of us have been married in the past and we do not have children, she is not a USC or a PR, she actually lives in Colombia.

I have been a PR living in the US for the past 9.5 years so my marital status is not a factor in my application.

What documentation would I need to take in order to avoid having to reschedule the interview because of missing documentation. I would think that taking the Marriage Certificate should be enough ... anyone had any experience with this?

Should not be a problem in updating your marital status during the interview. Just take the marriage certificate and its translation with you to the interview. Don't forget to remind the officer that you need to update your marital status.

Also, it might be a good idea to have a photocopy of the important pages of your wife's Colombian passport just in case.

This should not cause a delay in your N400 process in my opinion.

Besides what I said above, it might be a good idea if you print out a copy of your N400 form and fill out the portions which relate to your spouse and take that copy with you to the interview. That way things will be easier to update with the officer during the interview.

Would be nice to hear from someone who has done this in the past, now I just have to calculate the wedding/honeymoon and hope that my interview date doesn't fall smack in the middle.
