SSN Confusion

Happened to me too when I went to remove the conditions on my SSN. Dude didn't take all the info he needed or something... waited weeks before I called and he told me this :S Not exactly a convenient office to get to at the time either...

Finally got my SSN and Card today.

Nobody told me the SS Card is not an actual card... it's a piece of paper. :thumbs:

Did you go to the SS office in downtown Tampa? How was it ? Busy?

Is your biometrics appointment tomorrow in Tampa?

Ours is June 13th in Tampa, just wanted a little inside info.

No, I went to the SSA office in Winter Haven, FL.

Ya, the SS 'Card' is actually a piece of paper. You'll see when you get it.

And ya, my Bio apt is in Tampa in the morning. I will post up afterwards and tell you how it went.

So, I went to the USCIS Office in Tampa today for my Bio apt.

I left early to leave time for traffic. My apt was scheduled for 9:00 am.

Traffic was TERRIBLE, but I was still there early (8:30).

I walked in, showed the security guy my appointment letter (it wasn't a problem that I was early). Went through the security scanner.

I joined a line, a woman stamped my letter, had a look at my passport, checked my hands to see there was nothing on them.

Then I had to fill out a form and return it to her.

When I gave it back to her, she gave me a number to wait to be called.

After maybe 1 minute I was called by another woman who took my fingerprints and photo.

She told me that I would hear something in 30-90 days... hopefully closer to 30 than 90!

That was it!

Probably took 10-15 mins max.

ALSO, the girl that took my prints and photo told me that most of the people are part time workers and she couldn't tell me anything about my case. I asked her about never receiving my NOA1, she hadn't a clue what I was talking about and told me to call the hotline for questions about my case.

i arrived in US march 22 and went to SS office exactly the same with ur 1st day visit to SS Office (April 23 2012), they also gave me the same letter that u got. and now i'm still waiting for my SS Card. guess i cant do anything beside wait patiently, i sent my AOS paperwork without my SS number. anyway, did u get ur SS Card?
