**** several more posts removed. This is not the place to discuss what Muslims can and cannot do, if you want to discuss religion, take it to the P/R forum. This thread is to discuss the OP's situation and how she can be helped. *****

well good muslims do not drink because it is haram (forbidden) because it changes who you are. but muslims are human too and make mistakes and loose faith, just like any other religion. they also are not suppose to eat in restaurants that serve alcohol, or work in around alcohol. his problem is that he wanted to be like every one else and forgot about his religion. its also haram to beat your wife (or any living creature) and wives who shed tear because of their husbands words or hands are counted and then added to the man's sins counted against him in jannah. but alas, there are alcoholics and wife beaters in every religion and in every country and every socioeconomic class every where.

I do not hate him. i just can not live with him or allow my children to think that his behavior is acceptable.

Pretty sure no. The quran translation translates words differently. as a muslim myself, i had this question when i first became muslim and asked a sheik who said that the literal translation is more like a slap on the hand that causes no marks only after other attempts have been made to correct haram behavior. a husband can not tell his wife what to do, unless she is sinning. unfortunately islam is different than culture. and unfortunately most of the muslim world is run in a male dominated society that sadly twists the words of the quran to suit their needs. and unfortunately women are not well educated in these countries which only further allows the men to dominate women. but that is more culture than religion and anything translated from arabic into english looses meaning because of how different the two languages are.

This has nothing to do with Muslims.

He might not be muslim even. I am a muslim and my wife tells me I am the best ever she knewn all her life. and real muslim should not drink.

But we are here to help this lady going through this time. I would appreciate if moderator remove these negative/racist comments.

Mona, you are on the right path. just make sure he does not get his 10 year GC by withdrawing the jonit application.

Here is the process:

If the application withdrawn, then he needs to file by himself(if he ever know it was withdrawn) with a waiver of your signature(and for the waiver to be accepted he needs to have a divorce certificate in his hands and documents proving he did not marry just for GC and the seperation was for other legitimate reasons). and then he needs right away to file by him self

If you withdraw the application, he DID NOT file a single with a waiver(becuase he did not know you waithdraw or so). this mean he might pass his 90 days period to remove his condition(to remove condition he should file 90 days before the 2nd anniversary of his GC , or at anytime if filing with a waiver). in this case his residency is terminated automatically unless he can prove it was out of control he did not file on time.

Glad you made an INFOPASS to get this under control. I apologize if he was a muslim, becuase he did nothing but adding one more wound to us.

Please keep updating us. Thank you.

Mod hat off - I will briefly say I am sorry you are going through this and you are handling everything beautifully. Good luck to you and your family.

no i do not think that is okay, but i also have not done anything bad. on the same note, i became muslim long before i met and married my husband. but the bible allow men to beat their wives more than the quran. so lets mot make this about religion.

MOD can we close this post now... PLEASE?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
