you're actually both right. I really don't know how does it work in there but one would think that with a technology like we have now (especially in the USA) they would be able to come with some sort of a plan to make it maybe not faster but at least within the time frame! Of course people who need it most should have priority but I would really like to know that this is really the case...

I just don't understand their whole system ... I'm getting super tired of this though. Everytime u call u never really get an answer or they tell u to wait 38475737 days ... After waiting 38475737 days u call again and they tell u to wait another 29485737 days ...

The biggest issue is that everything still has to be done by hand. The forms are probably scanned in and the physical copy is there as a backup, but the point where it slows down is because manual background checks have to be done. Each embassy will have a list of requirements to be fulfilled before they can release certain information and that would need to be manually entered as well

well with the money they get from us which I calculated would be probably around $700,000 a month just for the I129F forms, you would think they could hire extra pair of hands... That is why we don't and we won't find out what's going on in there! When something is for free you usually have to wait months but when you pay you expect to be a little quicker don't you? They don't mind cashing your cheque straight away but to get any straight forward reply feels like a huge effort!

I agree the process could be improved! Remember back in 2002, they were having things like I-129F's done in a week or two!

What they need ideally is another service center, and historically it seems as though much of the slowdown has been because Texas stopped adjudicating petitions so they're down a service center

....Personally I'd rather accept a delay if it meant someone could get out of a country where their life is in danger.

i agree with you that life is more important. what is the percentage of a life-threatening situation? i can only imagine by maximum of 10% of 1000 application per day.

there ought not to be any applications going beyond processing times.

if paperworks piled up:

1) raise the fees to accommodate more staffing/temps

2) the worker gets into a more productive mode

it is simply incompetent management that uscis don't have a real procedure in dealing with an influx of applications. for more than a 50 years on agency establishment and they still act like it was their first agency establishment.

Hire more people and improve ur services. As simple as that. And if USCIS doesn't have enough money to hire more people (which I highly doubt) then raise the fee ... Personally, I wouldn't mind paying $100 or $200 more if that means I get my visa within 3 months instead of 7 or more. So somebody please explain to me why they don't do it?

There's probably congressional requirements and legal requirements when it comes to this since it's such a heavily ingrained legal process. Why close the Texas service center? Surely that would have kept things at bay while also

- Bringing in skilled workers who could potentially work, raise capital and keep the economy going

- Create jobs for the needy which, while costing more, would boost the number of potential spending for those coming into the USA,

Or if you want a more sinister way of looking at it, more people that come into the country = more people that can be taxed = more tax revenue from wages, and spending

more tax = revenue stream for government

Thanks... I think! Still, the revenue income from X number of legitimate immigrants would surely help support or even pay for the service center. Combine it with a $100 fee increase and you're looking at a lot of extra income. I would personally be quite happy paying an extra 100 here and there, especially as the immigration costs to the US are so low compared to other countries!

Took me 2 months to get my J1 visa last year btw... With background checks and everything...

This is in line with what I've seen in the past, and I'll bet X service center was still open as well to boot. A lot of time got lost as they moved service centers as well!

I've just noticed that as well.

What I guess we haven't considered is that when they updated the website, that just happened to be the petition that was last processed at the time! Another 30 seconds and the system might have shown the last I-129F from December

I think there may be a lot of logic in this idea.

The more I think about it, the more this makes sense to me. People process various petitions at any time. What's to say that "the last one they approved" when they did the data scan was one from April that had been backlogged?, if it truly goes on the last one that they entered into the system it could almost always be way out!
