Dear Sirs -

You have received my RFE submission on case # GUZ1234889289 and it has been in the casefile since 24 April 2012. Please tell me when a Visa Officer will review the RFE submission and subsequently make a decision on my wife's casefile.

Respectfully Submitted,

George Festus Luigi..

-----

That's my easy example for now.

As to how I know this stuff - I'm a reader. Almost everything I read, I remember. Almost like a Mentat... I've been reading for 4 years now.

Thanks, that sounds so much better than what I had written, haha.

Really? That's pretty cool. Rather impressive, I think. Anyway, thank you, again, for all your help.

rememeber, sling that email:

1. when the IV office is open (somehow this gets a faster review/response)

2. every two days.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

So write it every two days until they tell me a certain date, rather than just write back? Can do. Fortunately we went out today, so I didn't have time to email them, which I was planning on doing (but not overly concerned, since they were closed).

OK, message sent.

The 'thank you' page, however, says not to write back for 7 business days, if I don't get a reply. Should I just keep asking every two days, whether they write back or not? Just want to make certain, as with everyone else here, this is really important to me, so I just want to make certain I don't cause any problems for myself.

Now THAT was a quick reply. I was expecting them to send an email response, but apparently, they decided to reply with our acceptance letter, instead (coincidentally, I sent the email in the morning, and the mail came this afternoon). It's a hilarious coincidence, and a darn good birthday present.

They say that we have been approved, and to mail her passport, and her police report expired the 5th, so we need a new one (conveniently, we had that set up, her mom is going back to her hometown tomorrow).

And the final thing they say her body exam expires Sep. 20, "If your medical report has already expired or you cannot submit it to the consulate at least one month before it expires, please return to the panel physician for a new medical report, and submit the medical report with your passport to the consulate"

This I'm not 100% on. Are they saying we need to send the medical report in with the passport (which we plan to mail Wednesday), or if we can't send the passport in by August 20, we need to do it, again?

I'm not completely clear, and they kept the paper version of the medical exam that we got, so I'd like some help on that. Thank you guys so very much.

And one last question, after we send it in and it gets to the consulate's mailroom, how long does it usually take?

Ok, I have received what feels to be basically no response on this. The best response I got was the following:

"t seems to me that the medical examination is fine because it is not expired yet."

In addition:

"That’s probably why they asked you for another medical examination. The officer noticed that there was a missing vaccine. I’m guessing but in any case that would be a question for the doctor. They should be telling you how to proceed from here. I don’t think she would need another medical examination but just evidence that she got all the vaccines."

That last one regarding the fact that she hadn't gotten the second in the MMR series of shots.

As such, I intend to send a copy of the shot records along with the police certificate, and passport. The certificate should be arriving tonight, so we will most likely mail the package tomorrow.

If anyone can elucidate what the paper is talking about the medical exam, I would appreciate it, even if we've already sent in the package. Thanks.

IMO, the medical bit, it's part of the canned response, the template the foreign workers use when replying back.

they gave her a date that the medical exam expires,

as that's really the date that the visa will expire.

This is only May, can get all sent in this weekend? IF SO - Then my cracked crystal ball says she'll have the visa packet in her hands no later than June 30th. Is that enough time for you? I think it is - She'll have from July 1 to Sep 19th to make that first trip into the USA.

Ok, that's what I was thinking, too. It's poorly worded, in my opinion, but what can I do? Anyway, that's enough time. My wife read that it generally takes two weeks for this process. I can stay on my current entry until June 24. We've got everything and hope to EMS (or overnight, but supposedly China doesn't have that) the package to the consulate before lunch today. So yeah, June 30 is plenty of time.

My question about the medical exam, like you just answered, was what do we need to do about it, basically, do we need another, or to send in the medical test results in this package.

Thank you very much for the advice. You're a huge help. Hopefully my next post will be "we got it in the mail today."

Thanks, again!

more fun with dates and dates-o-rama.

Basically, for a CR-1/IR-1 visa (and sometimes K-1 visas)

that medical exam is a date-moving thing...

Many people get their medical done a few days prior to the interview,

and the 6 month 'come to usa' validity on the visa hinges round the medical exam thingie.

OR

it can be just set to 6 months, depending on who's using the machine that day.

I cannot account for the variance any other way , except to note that the medical exam date is really a hard date.

re: the packet yer sending off - include a cover letter telling them yer in the country (don't they know this already?) and ask they hurry the #$ck up as yer trying to leave with yer wife in hand.

I'm happy you got some progress, some movement, earlier in the week - that's a big bonus...

Ok, that almost makes sense. It makes more sense than most of the immigration malarkey. Never thought to include a letter about me being here, and we just got back from sending it off. For some reason, they never even asked her or gave her an in to mention that I was here during her interview.

Ok, we sent it yesterday at 10:30. We used EMS, as it's the fastest method over here. And apparently it arrived today. Kind of surprising, as it's Sunday. However, it was received by a place that apparently translates to White Swan Hotel.

The previous time we mailed the package, we didn't get delivery notice. I'm wondering, did they deliver it to the wrong place, or what? Looking up online, it's got the same address, though, so is the mailing office at the hotel, or what? Any ideas?

No, some other people here have also reported that documents sent to the embassy are often received by the "White Swan Hotel." Don't worry, they got it.

Ok, thank you. I hadn't seen any results in the pages I looked searching about it. The closest I got was an ad saying the consulate is near the White Swan Hotel.

Thank you for allaying my worries on that.
