If the extension is up then you can ask for an I-551 stamp. You can also apply for citizenship on your normal timeline. You don't have to interrupt your life at all for this.

Hi,

What is an I551 stamp? How does one apply for this. Can you please direct me to any data on this from USCIS? Is this to be sent after the deadline passes?

Well sent off our RFE package last night....And the waiting games resumes.

Well our RFE package was received yesterday afternoon, but this brought up a question. Do we not pickup exactly where we were, or do we get shuffled to the bottom of the pile again? I mean will the AO start working on our case again immediately or will we have to wait for his discretion?

If you are lucky (and usually), you'll get your approval letter in 1 week or so. But I see some members are waiting for the response for 1 month... And if you are not lucky, you'll get an interview letter after that...

Quite a discrepancy between California & Vermont -

thanks for posting the percentages & good luck to those still waiting.

I looked at the Stats Graph for number of days waiting between NOA & approval

and it looks like we were among the fastest, although from month to month it

didn't feel like that after 3-4 months had gone by.

The I-551 stamp is a stamp in your passport that shows you are a LPR. You can get one by making an INFOPASS appointment on the USCIS website when your letter is about to expire.
