Got our biometrics done today too. As we were leaving i asked the lady if we could get a passport stamp. She said we would need an infopas appointment setup for that. We went upstairs to the machine. made the appointment. As it was printing... i asked the guard that was sitting there if i could ask the girls behind the glass a question. He looked at us and said : I can't see what you are doing behind my back" :-). We walked up to the window and 3 minutes later the lady handed us a passport with a stamp for a year in it. She said " you use it as a Green card, you do not have to show your green card, have a nice vacation". I was shocked... they are pretty strict here. But over all it was a great day. :-)

Quick update - we did our biometrics on 7/11/12 at the Salt Lake City USCIS office (which recently moved downtown - much closer to us!).

Our application still doesn't show up online for tracking... that's a little odd.

AOS - Adjusting from F-1 student visa via marriage:

03 May 2010 - Sent I-130, I-485, I-765

05 May 2010 - Delivered (USPS tracking confirmed)

10 May 2010 - Checks cashed (goodbye $1365)

14 May 2010 - 3 receipts received (I-130, I-485, I-765) via USPS (I-797C NOA)

01 Jun 2010 - Biometrics appt notification received for 16 June 2010

07 Jun 2010 - Successful biometrics walk-in (SLC, UT Support Center)

30 Jun 2010 - Notification that first biometrics appt didn't provide good fingerprints, scheduled another appt

Hubby had his bio on the 12th. We went thru security had a nice conversation with one officers but they were both nice. Took appt. letter, gc, dl to window they gave him a form to fill out the top only. Basic Info...Ht, Wt, Hair color, Eye color, Country of citizenship, A# and race...which by the way they never have egyptian so, it was unknown we checked lol... and gave him a number 22 and they were servicing number 21 so, not a long wait at all. They called him back for finger prints, and a pic which the guy took it with my hubbys head crooked lol the man asked him do ya like this one? Before he could say anything he said ok your done! All my hubby could think was...It was a terrible picture. That was about it. I hope everyone has a pleasent Biometrics Appointment:-) And Good Luck To ALL!!!

A quick question to someone that has a minute. Do you need to go to the bio appointment with your spouse? I guess I could read the notice when I get home tonight to find the answer, but just wonder if someone can give me an answer now. I was reading the previous several posts and it seems like people are using the word "we" a lot when talking about the appointment. If my husband (how is the citizen) needs to go with me (who is the applicant), I'd better let him know as soon as possible so he can arrange his work around it! Thanks!

ANOTHER USCIS snafu, or perhaps yours truly should have checked more carefully on VisaJourney.

My wife went for the biometrics on June 27, but after she was done she said they only gave her

an EVALUATION sheet. I was expecting some kind of document so she could travel.

After calling USCIS today, I learned that she will have to call them back and they will send

a certificate for a one-ear extension of her permanent residence to enable her to travel.

I believe she should have got that at the biometrics - she told me she told them she was going

to travel, but apparently they didn't understand what she was saying....blink.gif

They don't provide anything stating your green card has been extended at the Bio appointment, that is what your NOA1 is for. The people your wife talked to at her Bio appointment probably assumed she'd already received the notice which provided information on the extension. If you didn't receive the NOA1 then you would have needed an infopass appointment specifically for getting a stamp in your passport for the 1 year extension.

It's strange that they took the NOA1 at her bio appointment, she shouldn't have even needed to show them that, I didn't even bring mine when I went for my appointment. The NOA1 is the letter which states that the green card has been extended for a year, and you can use that for pretty much anything you'd normally need the green card for, including travel.

You might have some trouble getting them to send another NOA1, from what I've read from a few other people they're pretty reluctant to do that, so you might be better off just making the infopass appointment and getting them to stamp her new passport.

It's strange that they took the NOA1 at her bio appointment, she shouldn't have even needed to show them that, I didn't even bring mine when I went for my appointment. The NOA1 is the letter which states that the green card has been extended for a year, and you can use that for pretty much anything you'd normally need the green card for, including travel.

You might have some trouble getting them to send another NOA1, from what I've read from a few other people they're pretty reluctant to do that, so you might be better off just making the infopass appointment and getting them to stamp her new passport.
