My check was cashed yesterday and I got my extension letter today. :dance: :dance:

When is the Receipt Date on your NOA letter? You need that date for the list ;)

At last ,almost one month later , the Checks were cashed yesterday , I am so Happy :) Hope to get NOA in next few days and extension letter , nice way for Kids to start the Summer Vacation :) Good luck to all still waiting !!

i also filed for ROC in may 2012 to VSC. my GC expires Aug 25th.

i did certified mail and received the certified mail slip stamped.

The stamp said it was received on May 29th 2012.

we sent the package on May 24th 2012 as a priority mail.

it was received by them on May 29th 2012 (guessing by the stamp on the returned certified mail slip)

OMG happy news!!

I just checked our bank account, our check has been cashed 6/14/2012! finally! i was already pulling my hair out!

Time line so far:

I-751 sent: May 24th 2012

I-751 received by VSC: May 29th 2012 (stamped certified mail slip)

Check Cashed: June 14th 2012

NOA1 received: June xx 2012

Yes you can. My friends wife from Colombia just got her GC, NO INTERVIEW.

Let me know how you make out on this. I'm curios about whether you get the I 551 stamp and if it's only for travel or if the 551 also gives you the work extension....or whether you get something else confirming extension while they process. Would be best to get the biometric sooner anyway so they can move on that quicker

The I-551 stamps is a "permanent resident' stamp in your passport. It shows people your status in the US. It gives you all the rights a PR has in the US, so yes, it gives you the right to work. It is also listed on the I-9 as a document that proves your right to work.

The extension grants you permanent stay, travel and work authorization. Travel is one part of it but the stamp or NOA would also cover you and your employer if they ask for the green card again if they keep track of when it expires etc. Like the poster said, it's not like you find yourself illegal all of a sudden, but you do need the proper documents to have a nice smooth life lol....soooooo the NOA1 covers that and so does the stamp. Just odd that a few of us haven't received the NOA1 but got the biometrics appointment. California got our package May 16th. The biometrics letter was date noticed June 7th and I received it the 9th....they've got me waiting for Santa Clause on an NOA that apparently has a date of Jun 1st or something but yet it's taking 17 days to get here. Hoping it's in the mail today. :bonk:

I may go ahead and book an appointment if it's not here by Monday then.

Do they cost anything, and can you cancel if the NOA1 arrives after I've booked but before the appointment?

OMFG, our check was finally cashed today! I was dying. I called before and they said to call back after a month has passed. Does this mean the whole thing has been approved and now is just processing (with a biometrics interview and the like), or this just means they received it and may want more proof and stuff?

Good news at last , received the NOA and extension letter in mail yesterday for kids , mine will probably arrive today , please can you update on the line ? Thank you :)

When is the Receipt Date on your NOA letter? You need that date for the list ;)

Actually I read a detailed report here where someone had the stamp and the letter, and the staff did not like the stamp. They wanted the letter. You can travel on the letter.

It's not the airlines we're worried about, it's the guy at the window who checks your passport before letting you through in Morocco. We don't know if they're going to give my husband any trouble or if the letter is widely known.

I am not asking in a cycle of fear. My original question is still unanswered. Should we encounter trouble who can we call and get assistance from so as to avoid a missed flight? I believe in being prepared for all possibilities so you are ready for whatever happens.
