Hey! So are you saying that the one-year extension is granted via mail? Like we are suppose to get something on the mail about that? All along I thought you have to go to the USCIS service center where you will have your biometrics, and personally have your whatever e.g. passport (not sure) stamped with that one-year extension note. Or I thought you will have that one-year extension stamp once you have your biometrics done.

Thanks!

Hey there, no email notification was something we could do back in the I 130 petition days but I'm not aware of any email notication avaialable now, maybe there is but I don't know about it. We should be getting the NOA1 by regular mail then get the NOA for the ASC appointment, which is the notification of biometrics appointment...some of us, including you and I, have not be sent the NOA1 and instead got the biometrics. When I spoke with NVC about it, and believe me it was a looooong stupid wait, the guy said he could see on his system that I was approved for one year extension and said he saw the issue date for the NOA and suggested I wait until the end of this week, by Friday to see if it shows up and, if not, to call again. Ugh, calling again sucks bobo.

Anyway, if you don't get the NOA by the end of the week, I would call NVC and I'm going to as well. Maybe it'll show up, maybe it won't.

The biometrics letter came to me within two days of the notice date......NVC said the NOA1 appears to have been issued dated Jun 1st or something.....yet today is the 12th and where is it??? why should we have to wait if it was issued. He couldn't say it if was sent out or not but could see that the extension was granted. I will call them to determine whether I need to book an info pass or bring my passport etc to the biometrics appointment to get the stamp. I'm not sure who does the stamp (I 551).

Does anyone have experience in that area? I've read somewhere on some post about this but not sure where or when. Anyone know?

We are in the same boat. They received ours on 23 May but no check cashed nor any word. Our GC expires 26 July.

I see a few recent mails at the end of May to VSC have been turned around already! According to USCIS, only after 30 days of no response are we to call. Sigh.

You can still choose to have email or text notifications by adding the case # that is on your bio letter to your user portfolio on USCIS website and checking yes for the email and/or notification options. But I don't think the system is very reliable. Plus I don't understand why they made it so we can only check the status of the case AFTER getting the bio letter.

hello,

i am new here.

i also filed for ROC in may 2012 to VSC. my GC expires Aug 25th.

i did certified mail and received the certified mail slip stamped.

The stamp said it was received on May 29th 2012. Since GC expires on Aug 25th, May 29th is exactly 89 days before it expires, so its definitely within the window...

however, after that i haven't heard any thing so far, and the check has not been cashed yet either.

starting to get a bit anxious...

i called the USCIS help center number yesterday, and the representative said I had to wait 30 days before contacting anyone...

Okay!!!! :D so! I just got back from my appointment. As some of you remember, I called the Customer Service Center because we have not received our Extension Letter, and we did received the Biometrics Appointment Letter. The agent that took my call suggested an info pass online and that is what I did and I AM VERY HAPPY I did so.

I arrived 15 minutes early and got my passport stamped with the one year extension.

Not only that, but I asked if they would take my biometrics also, and THEY DID!

I really hope the original Extension Letter does arrive in the mail, just to be on the safe side, but for now? I'm coooool! Hahahaha! Hope this info is useful guys!

Good stuff and way to go !! Yes the info pass is likely the best option. I'm giving it until Friday as per the last call with NVC and I suspect the NOA1 won't be in the mail. If it arrives, great; but I'll likely do an info pass and get the stamp. My biometrics appointment is June 28th. The other thing is that my Canadian passport expires Dec 2012....if I get it stamped, I have to surrender that passport to Canada to get another one....and I would not want to surrender a passport that has a stamp. It makes me want to get a new passport now and then have them stamp it. Such a pain in the #### simply because the ridiculous NOA was either not sent or delivered. completely inconvenient at every level including taking time off work to get that info pass appointment etc.

Again all letters from service centers should be made to have signatures upon receipt....and if not, then NVC should be able to have a second NOA1 issued if there is any glitch ie not delivered or not sent; it's not like having two NOA1s will change anything. not like it's two SSNs or two green cards. It's a letter extending your green card for one year from a certain date to another date. Why can't one simply be reissued. They must have something on their files that it was sent....send another one, there's been a problem .....

Silly jackwagon stuff if you ask me. <_<

Quick question - are InfoPass appointments to get I-551 stamps only needed if you don't get your NOA1 before you plan on travelling?

My conditional GC expires on the 24th. I don't have my NOA1 yet (though check cashed on Monday so I'm hoping to see it very soon). I'm not planning on travelling overseas for a while (we're talking several months), so do I actually need to do anything, even if I don't get my NOA by the 24th?

Just want to make sure I'm not likely to get into any trouble.

From what I understand, once you receive your extension letter(NOA1) you can travel for an additional year after your expiration date on your GC. If you need to travel prior to receiving the NOA1(Extension letter), then you can go in and try and get an I-551 stamp.
