Meeting to Sponsorship Income Requirement

I am a recent graduate from college and I currently have a part-time job making about $11,500 a year, which I started working about 2 months ago. Last year I only earned a couple of hundred dollars (not counting loans and scholarships) which is what will show on my most recent tax return. Soon I am either going to get a better job or another part-time job that will get me at least $8,000 or so a year. I want to bring my girlfriend over from India. I know that to satisfy the poverty level requirements I will have to be bringing in at least $19,000 a year. My question is, will the USCIS accept my proof of income if it's just paystubs and statements from an employer (or possibly two)? In particular, will they not accept these because the jobs will be recent? I have heard that India is considered a "high"fraud" country. Also before anyone suggests it I have looked into getting a co-sponsor and this does not appear to be possible.

They will take into consideration that you were student. You will still need to submit prior tax return, and i would include attached letter explaining your situation. I really don't think fraud matters for support issues as it would not matter which country you are from to become public charge. Fraud is more in terms of proving relationship is valid.

Will the fact that these are "new" jobs affect my application in any way?

yes, that will be considered as well. in my opinion, a single full time job is going to look better than a couple part-time shifts... especially if claiming you had no income before to gain education. longer work record is always better, but if you land a "career" type job after college, i would see no problem either. this is only opinion, maybe other have another opinion, as when it comes down to it you need current income over the established level. After that, the CO can consider other things as well to make decision.

I will definitely try for a good full-time gig, but in this economy nothing is certain! I know I could get another part-time job though. I just wanted to know, if it's two recent part time jobs will they not even consider it? Will we be "dead in the water" so to speak?

Should it really matter how many jobs you are holding at once? I see the OP point in it looking better to have one full time job, but I have two part time jobs within the same profession. Together, I make more than enough to satisfy the income requirement and have held these jobs and income for more than a few years. The CO wants to know you are making enough income. That could be a small retirement pension where no work is involved anymore. It just needs to be steady income other than unemployment or other government assistance, and you have to show evidence to support it being steady. If you can get a another part time job to not only satisfy the requirement but to give yourself better quality of life, then by all means, do it! Why is cosponsor out of the question?

Unfortunately from what I have seen and heard here and elsewhere it's not what "should" matter but what does matter that we're talking about. Everything I have seen indicates to me the the Delhi embassy where she will be applying is really hard on applicants. She already has a common (the most common) Muslim name in India, which I have heard will slow down her application by up to fours months. So I am worried that me having 2 part time jobs which I acquired in the last 6 months might not look good or might even merit denial on the application.

I agree that the New Delhi embassy is a little harder on applicants, especially K1's, as compared to the Mumbai consulate. That's cos the Delhi embassy is a high-fraud center. Adding to that is the fact that your gf has a common Muslim name, which will, without a doubt, place her in AP. You'll need to think this through before deciding on how to proceed further.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yeah, it is about what does matter. I understand that every consulate is different, but the I-134 at 125% poverty is a standard US requirement. It has nothing to do with religious background, culture of beneficiary, or high fraud risk embassies. It might appear better to have one full time job versus two part time jobs. Nobody can truly answer that for you as that is in the eyes of the CO regardless of where the embassy is. That is really an arbitrary concern that only others can speculate on. I am just speaking for the I-134 here that is all. If you have two jobs that meet or exceed the requirement, then, you should probably focus on the other things that bother you. I am still uncertain as to why a cosponsor is out of the question as you never answered that. 6 months isn't too bad. At least you didn't get the jobs a month before interview. The longer the better, but why worry about that if you can't change the circumstances? The worry is not going to help you. If you have the income, give the evidence. If explanations are needed for your short term employment history, give them to the best of your ability. Being a student does count and is a better explanation than others.

These things may be true. Obviously, the concerns here are deeper than the I-134. These things being mentioned are separate concerns. This has nothing to do with the requirements of the I-134 which it seems to be the OP least concern given the other things you have both mentioned.

What do you mean I/we'll need to think this through further? :(

I only have 1 right now, after I go to India to visit her again I will get the second (or, hopefully, one job that will provide a good enough income). And the cosponsor thing is out of the question because I asked my parents and they refused to do so. I don't know anyone else who could or would do such a thing. And what will happen if I do get the second job a month before the interview?
