Hello:

Does anyone know if there is an expiration for the affidavits to support the relationship? I have begun asking friends for an affidavit because our 2nd wedding anniversary is next week, but we won't be applying for ROC until 9/1/12 because my husband's green card doesn't expire until 11/29/12.

Is it ok to start getting letters now to prepare to file in September?

No, I am not referring to that.

I am referring to the letters that friends write to support the validity of the relationship. Such as this one below from the example forms found on the guides section. I want to know if the letters have to be less than 6 months old, or 90 days old, when filing with the I-751 packet.

I'm hoping that if they are within 6 months or less from when I file that the letters will be considered current.

You are only removing conditions on the green card. It's not going to be as stressful as getting the K-1 and your 2 year card. You don't need affidavits as much as you need to show co-mingling of finances and property.

Utility bills, credit card bills, and other types of bills which have both of your names on them. Since many utilities will only put a bill in one person's name, some bills in one name and other bills at the same address but in the other spouse's name serve the same purpose: showing your financial & social lives intermingled. Copies of actual credit cards, health insurance cards, or other "joint" cards that you have together, showing same account number.Car, health, or life insurance that has both of your names on the policy or the other spouse listed as the

beneficiary.

I already have all of those types of financial documents for evidence.

I read the affidavits in a list of required items, so I thought they were required. It's really not a big deal to me to get them. I already have 3 people writing them. I've never had any issues with any of the immigration paperwork. I just like to be thorough so that there can't be any reasons for the government to delay things.

Nope not "required". Suggested, but not required. I personally sent none but I'm still waiting :D I would think that they shouldn't expire but if possible I would get a couple dated a little closer to when you're filing.

The reason I don't think the dates would really matter is because even though relationships eventually fail, those would be proof that at the time of filling them in everything was rosy.
