Hi, I'm just curious to know how things have worked out for others.

I'm in Miami, my biometrics appt was scheduled for April 12th, I got excited and did walk-in March 19th. I was really hoping it would speed things up... apparently not because here I am April 21st STILL mo EAD, however my interview date has been scheduled for May 23rd. I'm a little concerned because I have only my marriage cert and correspondence from USCIS with my married name on it. Bank wont let us have a joint account with my married name without my SSN nor will DMV let me have my drivers licence in my married name. Even applying for jobs, my ID has my maiden name so my applications reflect that.

What are you guys doing in your states about this?

Um, you only filed your AOS 1 and a half months ago. The EAD will be in your hand in another month and a half from now. It takes about 70-90 days, so expecting sooner is just setting yourself up for disappointment. A Walk-in bio does not speed it up. SOunds like you're having a speedy interview so maybe there will be no need for an EAD.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Thanks, we're just itching to get on with our lives. Just checked on the timeline notes, it reckons between May 3rd and 6th... so I'll just have to keep biting my fingernails. I'm used to working, don't mind what it is, so long as I'm using my hands or brain. This is killing me. Specially with hubby having to work all the hours God sends for us to make ends meet. Thanks for your in put.

I know it's hard to wait, but expecting it way earlier than is reasonable will only make it worse. It will come. You have an interview soon so many would want to be in your shoes. Keep in mind you probably won't get hired your first day looking for work either. You could volunteer somewhere for the next month or take on a home project (to work with your hands). Good luck.

I would definitely suggest doing some volunteer work - if you are involved with a religious group, dive into that and help out...

I am ahead of you in my timeline, look at my signature, and I still haven't got my EAD...be patient.

There is literally nothing w can do to speed this process, and if you don't put your focus elsewhere it will be like watching paint dry. Find a way to invest your time, energy and focus elsewhere..time will fly.

Thanks guys, I suppose another month isn't going to kill me... much as it seems like it. I have stuff to keep me occupied, it's just that we're on a real tight budget and I'd like to take the pressure of my husband a bit. We've come this far, so we'll just have to keep on keeping on as it were.
