First of all, thank you everyone for all the valuable information on this website.

A little bit about myself. My wife is currently in China. I just received my NOA2 on April 17, 2012 and I'm currently waiting for a NVC case number.

My question is: what is in the packet that's sent from USCIS to NVC? Does the USCIS send all my supporting documents to NVC?

Our marriage certificate is written in Chinese, which we had translated to English and certified. But I mailed this certified/translated copy of my marriage certificate to USCIS, so it should be included in my packet, no? Or do I need to get another translated/certified copy of the marriage certificate (which can only be obtained at her hometown in China)?

Thanks for your help.

whoops. you mailed the original white book?

you only needed a photocopy of the white book with USCIS submittal on the I-130.

Did you make a scanned copy of the marriage certificate? IF SO - you can use that with NVC, that digital scan,

for

NVC Electronic Processing.

Don't worry about anymore paper with NVC, OPT IN when the casefile arrives at NVC.

re: relationship evidence. Some say it does, some say it doesn't.

I say submit it all again with the DS-230 emails - see bleuawolf - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/267559-usa-is-now-arizona/page__view__findpost__p__4100571

Some backgrounder on NVC Electronic Processing:

NVC EP - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

Now then, IF you do NOT wish to OPT IN into NVC Electronic Processing, and remain a 'paper file', then yes, you absolutely need the original white book. You'll have to ask a supervisor to pull it out of the casefile, and add it to the DS-230, after you've sent in the DS-230. EP won't have this issue, but a paper file at NVC will.

Good Luck !

Thanks for the quick reply Darnell. The links you provided are very informative. It seems like if I do choose to OPT IN for EP, we still need to bring the originals to the interview. According to the EP wiki: "All documents and forms that we request and require from you should be scanned copies of the originals. The applicant must present all original forms and documents to the consular officer at the visa interview. Failure to present the required originals at the visa interview will result in a denial or delay in obtaining a visa for the sponsored applicant."

And perhaps there is a chance USCIS didn't send the original white book to NVC? Was there any follow-up to your 1st link, about "front loading" and what percentage of applicants have their materials front-loaded?

Thanks again.
