Maybe try here too Renuka Silks. I'm in love with Indian/Paki style and the fabric is to die for... They're having a sale right now too but the selection is not great...

But I still wouldn't buy much online if you're going there anyway.... but then again you're not going to India or Pakistan :P

Stop! Don't buy anything else! Shopping in Egypt is awesome, and I always wish I would have gone with less there, so I could stuff more in my suitcase on my way back.

Oh those are all so pretty! I"m gonna take everyone's advice though and stop here with the buying. I'm between a size 12 and a 14 so hopefully the clothes there will fit me. I've lost a lot of weight over the past year and I used to shop at Roamans.com all the time but I think if I keep losing the weight this will be my last purchase. I do like their clothes though 'cause they have tons and tons of tunics and I like my clothes looser rather than tighter for obvious reasons.

Thanks!

Clothing size isn't an issue in Egypt.

Ah, see, I even have camel advice for you. Camel riding around the pyramids is a must for any tourist. Wander around the streets next to the pyramid and find a shop that advertises camel rides. Get your camels through them. Expect to pay an up front price, plus baksheesh (a tip) for the people who get you the camels and the little boys who will lead the camels. While you wander through the desert on the camel, you'll come across people selling soda. I wouldn't buy one, since they come in glass bottles. Also don't try to buy them for your little guides. My parents tried, and they refused. Which brings me to another tip - always drink water, juice and soda from plastic bottles. Glass ones are refilled, and can be of sketchy quality.

If you view the pyramids on foot, you will inevitably be accosted by several men offering you camel rides. These are usually way overpriced, and they're not suppose to be harrassing tourists on site. You'll also find men wanting to show you "secret" or "hidden" tombs, in exchange for hefty baksheesh of course. Ignore them, they're not suppose to be harrassing the tourists.

It is also much cheaper to go to these tourists sites if you're egyptian or the wife of an egyptian. I guess you could carry around a copy of your marriage certificate and let your husband argue with the gate people that you should get the cheaper rate :)

For more on baksheesh, check out this article.

This couldn't be more true!!!! When we first went to the pyramids this man figured out that I was American because Yousuf kept talking to me in English.... he wanted us to get a horse and buggy and I told Yousuf I wasn't interested... I like to walk or at least I wanted to ride a horse (no camels for me... too tall  ) and this man got right in my face and started talking in my face... he said "OK lady but when you start walking around and get tired don't come crying to me!" I was like  and Yousuf got this look in his eye like he could have just laid this man out on the spot.... I just stepped back, out of his breathe!, and Yousuf politely nudged him off me and we went on about our business.... we did get a horse later but not a buggy and certainly not from him!

They wanted me to pay an arm and a leg to get into the pyramids at first just because I've got a pretty blue passport but then Yousuf gave them our marriage contract and they lowered the price to the normal $2 I think... I didn't pay for anything so I'm not really sure :P

The only man who approached Mohamed and I was the one camel guy and actually it was us who approached him. The man asked me where I was from and I said, the US. Mohamed gave me this look and said...don't talk to him! Oops! I'm just used to talking to ppl who talk to me. Anyways I was never harrassed in Egypt..whether by the pyramids or elsewhere. I had my very own Egyptian attack dog by my side  My husband puts on his most serious face when he would take me out. I call it the..don't ** with me face.

If there's one thing about ME/NA men, it's that they're very protective. I know that face well

On a side note regarding cheaper if you're with an Egyptian... nope. Cost me 20 pounds, cost him 2 and he argued for what seemed an eternity. YES take your marriage papers!!!! If you don't your hubby will be harassed by every cop and "do-gooder" within 100 paces.

I would also advise taking your own water. They wanted a whopping 30 pounds for a 2 pound bottle of water. Let your husband protect your wallet as best he can. (And yes, anything bottled in glass you have to be VERY careful with.

The "hawkers" did this with us too. Mohammed would be barking at the guy to leave me alone and the guys just turn a deaf ear, give you their most WINNING smile and keep at you until you bark at them NO. And sometimes you have to be forceful. Blah. I hated it.
