Can anyone offer any experience they've had with obtaining their passport through PSK, either online or in person. Their website says if you apply for Tatkaal (exipedited) you will received the passport in three business days. We've been told by several people that this is not true. Please share your experience.

Yes, in tatkaal scheme, you would get passport in 3-5 days in most of cases. In a rare case,it get delayed under tatkaal scheme.

I suggest go for tatkaal.

However, there are some requirements to apply under tatkaal. For instance, urgency letter signed by employer or IAS rank officer.

Normal application is also quicker these days, I got my passport back in 23 days under normal scheme.

I don't see anything on the website about this requirement when I begin filling out the online application. We don't have an employer letter, etc., but what about an interview letter from the embassy stating that he has an interview on May 1st?

Here is what I had experience:

Day 1: Appointment in PSK Chennai for Tatkal Passport

Result: Granted & Printed same day

Day 2: Picked up the passport by Speed Post

Day 3: Delivered in my hand.

P.S. - I got reissued passport to add spouse name & new mailing address.

Yes interview letter will do....But if interview is on 1st consider hiring an agent for getting passport.

He will do all the formalities for the tatkaal scheme and they are experienced.

If it gets it done faster we'll hire one, but where would we find this agent?

Agent can't be much helpful unless you have sufficient documents for Tatkal. By the way, is this for new passport? or re-issue?

If he doesn't meet with doc requirement, then there is only solution left: Must have to arrange ANNEXURE ‘F’. It is not easy at all, but some agents may have resources to arrange this, but all agents dont have such features, and they dont give it to everyone either. It cost a good money, but I know the agents those have good experience to arrange ANNEXURE ‘F’. I dont know no one in Jaipur, but you really would have to put the effort to go to find the right person. You cant search for such agent online!

An agent can't really do much, so I wouldn't advice spending/wasting money on an agent. Even if it's a fresh passport, PSK will get it done faster than if you approach the Passport Office. Why don't you call up the PSK helpline and confirm it?
