Hi everybody!

I finally got my EAC and can't wait to start working! I already got a couple interviews so wish me luck there!

My question is can I get new SSC in the Social Security Office with my EAC? My APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE is on status Initial Review and I have a SSC from previews visit with my maiden name on it.

My I-94 form is expired and my passport is about to expire too. Would it be a problem if it is expired before I get the GC?

You guys are been very helpful by now! Thank you for your time and advices!

Congratulations. You can get an SSN based on your EAD, but if you already have an SSN you don't need to get another one. If you have a restricted SS card though, you should go back to the SS office and get an unrestricted one.

Your I-94 expiration is immaterial at this point. When you got your NOA1 from the I-485, it gave you a new period of authorized status even without the I-94. You do need to keep it though until you get a Green Card because you may need it if you are interviewed.

The passport is a problem if you are planning to travel, and it might be a problem if you are planning to use it as any form of ID, even to buy beer or cash a check, but it's not an immigration problem.

You cannot get an unrestricted card with only an EAD. You will need the GC to get the "not valid for work" wording removed on your card.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

You CAN go to the SSA to get your married name put on your SSN now that you have your EAD but it will still say "DHS Authorization required" on it. Don't worry about that because your EAD is the authorization.
