Our 5 months is almost up (4/23/12)

Today called in to check which NOA the California CS was processing for I-130 CR1 petitions and was given the date of September 10.

That's impossible given that 9/10/12 falls on a SATURDAY! Do federal govt. employees work and/or receive mail for processing on Saturdays?

This is certainly news to me. What's even more infuriating is the fact that I called 10 days ago to check the ETA and was told they were processing October! How did we go BACK IN TIME??

I was also told that BECAUSE my petition was received on 11/23/11 and given that they are only processing petitions received 9/10/11 I would have to wait 74 more days before they would get to mine.

On the USCIS website the processing times haven't changed and continue to remain as 5 months. I know this is only an estimate, but it needs to be UPDATED to reflect that the ACTUAL DELAYED processing time is 6-8 months just for the NOA2.

5 MONTHS IS LONG ENOUGH FOR JUST WAITING AROUND DOING NOTHING!!!

You knew the wait was going to be longer than 5 months, so why did you bother calling already? You also know the estimates from this site, so what other information could you expect to get?

When I applied I did not know the wait would be longer than 5 months for the first step of the process. I also did not know about this site until just recently this month of april.

Upon initiating the petition I was told it would take up to 5 months, therefore I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it would be processed within that timeframe, which is very reasonable. If they are bogged down they need to hire more temps to shuffle papers and more administrative judges on a pro tem basis so they can clear up the backlog!

I bother calling often and demand to know what is going on because I want to be together with my wife and our lives hang in the balance. I have every right to be concerned and responsible for her.

I'm remembering the member Al422 from a little more than a year ago.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You can call often and make all the demands you want, but it's not going to help. If you have a truly compelling reason for the process to be expedited, you can call your Congressmen, but a lot of people on this board have been waiting much longer than you, so please try to have some patience.

I didn't mention anywhere above I am requesting my case to be expedited. I merely stated that USCIS should be more professional and commit to meeting their goals as best they can else change their figures, hire more staff, etc.

It's not me who's doing nothing. USCIS needs to make this a faster process for US citizens and take precedence over H1B visa guest workers.
