Quick update on us. We finally got my stepdaughter's greencard. It took about 4 weeks after USCIS shows they mailed it. Everything is going great. I've learned more spanish in the last month than i did in the 3 years my husband and i have been together. She is also picking up on English really fast. She is only 3 so it will be a lot easier for her than me! She is adjusting really well. My husband and I also have a 18 month old so they are having a blast together. They love each other so much and it's so cute watching them play together. I have my hands full to say the least.

For those who are still on this journey, good luck to all of you. I know how frustrating it can be to wait, wait, wait but it's so worth it in the end. My husband and I still sit at the now loud dinner table and just laugh at all the chatter. Two months ago we were only dreaming about this day and now it's here and we wouldn't change any part of what we've gone through. We are so blessed that everything worked out and that we found visa journey. We would have been lost without the knowledge and support of those who have and are going through this same process to bring loved ones home. Now for the real journey......LIFE :)

Did you get on yet?! So you are unable to log on at all, or the fee is just showing unavailable? Sometimes it means they are invoicing you when you can't log on (apparently)

And did you end up sending just the template for Choice of Agent? Hope it is accepted quickly. Mine took two stinkin' weeks.

Things are rolling along now!

Hello everyone!!! I just filed for my two stepdaughters. Received NOA1 March 28, 2013. Case got sent to National Benefits Center, so we are hoping and praying for a fast approval (fingers crossed).

Welcome! If your case stays at the National Benefits Center, you *should* be approved fairly quickly... 2 months seems quite common now, though I have seen as quick as 39 days. Of course some inexplicably take far longer, but we won't talk about that for now. Your case might get transferred to your local service center, at least that was happening in the last few months.

Hope everything goes smoothly for you! Make sure you get everything you need for NVC while you are waiting...

This group here is INCREDIBLY helpful for the stepchild immigration process. Pretty much everything I needed to know I found here (and in the links on the monthly spouse NVC threads).

You sound just like me when i was waiting...i was like a crazy person checking it every hour everyday. If it is still letting you log on but no invoice appears then they haven't finished entering everything. When you log on and get an error message that means they are invoicing and you should be able to see it by the end of that day or the next to be able to pay. Seeing the error message is a GOOD thing. It means they are working on it. For me it was around 3 p.m. when both invoices appeared. Be sure to check back everyday after you pay it until you get the receipt showing payment went through. When i paid i got a confirmation but kept waiting for it to give me a receipt and for them to take it from my account. After several days It finally said payment rejected. I knew the funds where there and i knew it had never even showed pending in my account. When I called NVC they said they couldnt see where i ever tried to pay it so i had to try again and then wait another couple of days for payment to finally go through. I know it's so frustrating when you have everything ready but you are having to wait on THEM!! UGH! It will happen though just keep checking :) Good Luck!

I did finally get on. I was able to log on at first, then I got the error message the second day. I figured it was being invoiced, but then the third day, (yesterday) I was still getting the error message, and was heading towards a cliff.

I sent just the template, and then form attached, long story...

I logged in on the first day when I got my case number. On the second day, I got the error msg. I checked it every hour for two days straight, with the AOS package sitting next to me waiting on the cover letter. Right before I packed it in and left work yesterday I got an email from NVC, with the AOS bill. I was finally able to log on at 4pm yesterday and I paid, printed, and ran to the post office.

Funny you should mention the rejection, being the obsessive compulsive person that I am, I checked the status this morning at 5:57am and it said Not Paid. When I investigated further, it said payment rejected. I immediately paid it again, so were back to processing now. I dont know why it would have been rejected. The only thing I can think of is the fact that my name is hyphenated, but the payment portal would not accept a hyphen. I just left a space, so maybe it didnt match the bank info. This morning when I did it again, I used my husbands name since it is a joint checking acct. I didnt want to waste time playing around with them. I hope its accepted this time.

Ok, so now Im moving on to preparing the IV package. I know most of you have been through this and I was just skimming through the thread for info on what I need. Heres what I came up with so far...

Beneficiary

Original Birth Cert

copy of birth cert

2 passport pics

copy of passport bio page

Petitioner

copy of birth cert

copy of marriage cert

I also have a notarized letter from her mother giving her permission to immigrate. Should I include the original or will a copy suffice? I only have one, so Id prefer save it for the embassy stage.

Do I need to include anything else?

Ok, so now Im moving on to preparing the IV package. I know most of you have been through this and I was just skimming through the thread for info on what I need. Heres what I came up with so far...

Beneficiary

Original Birth Cert

copy of birth cert

2 passport pics

copy of passport bio page

Petitioner

copy of birth cert

copy of marriage cert

I also have a notarized letter from her mother giving her permission to immigrate. Should I include the original or will a copy suffice? I only have one, so Id prefer save it for the embassy stage.

Do I need to include anything else?

We did not send the letter at all. We waited and they asked for it during our interview. Everything else looks good. Movin right along :) You will be done before you know it!
