Just an update on our situation we had the kid's interview this past week. The interview itself was incrediably short. The IO only asked the kids their name and ages then he told us he had no issues with our case it was just the lack of paperwork of my husband as their father. He said that we could either amend the birth certificates to add my husband's name OR do the DNA. We were pretty sure the DNA would be the fastest so that is what we are in the midst of doing.

On another note the IO was convinced we could do the test locally at the same place we got the medical and that information was also confirmed by the supervisor we talked to when getting our exit papers. Of course when we tried to contact St. Luke's they insisted the kit had to be ordered from the U.S. and that they did not have DNA tests. So we are going through that whole process described by meblue.

I think it is a case by case basis and depends upon the specific person interviewing you but I believe if we had any DNA results in our packet or an amended b/c the kids would have gotten their visas that day.

So that's what's going on with us. Good luck to everyone and lets keep the approvals up and the complications down!

Hi beejay,

It's nice to know that my experienced about DNA help you and the other members here. I hope your kid will get the visa before Christmas. I know it's kind of hard to be on that situation. I remember when my daughter and I was stuck in Manila to do that DNA process, my husband told me that one of these days we'll just gonna look back and these is all gonna be in the past. And now that my daughter is already here in the US, my husband is right. Right now we are happy as a family, we go out together, attend some American and Filipino get together, go shopping, visit my husband's parents, and many more......

meblue!! I'm so glad you stopped by I wanted to write you to say thank you! again :D I could not have gotten the DNA tests done as fast as I did without your help. I just got an email from the Blood place and the results are on their way back to the embassy.

Just one (or two :P ) more questions if you have time - how quickly was your visa issued after the embassy received your results? Did you have to follow to make sure they got the results and issued the visa?

I'm so happy you have your daughter with you and your husband and it's such a nice feeling knowing that day is coming for us to. Salamat kaayo kaayo!

Good to see you Quana! It's nice to be in the home stretch of things but I won't be able to relax until the kids are here freezing their little behinds off in our midwest winter :P

Eeee, daycare's are a lot of work but I'm sure it's been nice to have the distraction. Congrats on starting it! Are you still waiting for approval after your RFE? That is frustrating. Keep us posted and we'll keep you in our thoughts.

One of these days I need to make a chart of where everyone is at in the process...

I'm not sure how quickly the embassy will get on the visa but they have everything they need right now - tracking number for DNA results is now confirmed as delivered! So I am looking at tickets right now ... I don't want to jump the gun but I would like them here before school starts up after winter break.

Knowing your kids won't be here until after the new year it makes sense to wait until summer for the transition. I know this uncertainty has not been easy on the kids, if I thought the visas wouldn't be issued for another month or two we would probably wait but I'm optimistic the embassy will be issuing the visa in the next few weeks. If we did wait the kids would lose their spots in the charter school they are registered at now and I just think that school is going to play a big part in easing the transition and I don't want to risk it.

My husband did sign the choice of agent for the kids. I think he put his signature then in parentheses put "father" and then underneath wrote for minor child CHILD's NAME or something along those lines. We had some trouble getting the choice of agent accepted by email. We finally got it accepted on the second go around when we scanned the Choice of Agent form and emailed that from my email with the template mentioned here on vj in the body of the email. (The first time we sent only the template from my husband's email with no scanned document - his email had been given to NVC prior to sending.)

I would be curious to see if other people had problems when sending the choice of agent for their child and had to scan the document to get it accepted.

yes i bet you will hear something real soon. DEFINATELY by winter break.. that would be awesome to have winter break to just chill and show them all around and get used to things and then start school.. so you did go with a charter school..and they already allowed you to save her a spot for spring term.. thats GREAT i hope some of the ones whos kids are already here come back and share stories.. i would love to hear about school transitions and such..

i actually was gonna just use the template also and just mail the document.. thanks for the heads up

I had the same problem that beejay had when i emailed the form from the assigned email on file but luckily i had mailed a copy the same day i sent the email so they accepted that one and my husband just signed his daughters name and then signed his name (Michell Cruz by Martin Cruz for minor child)

I was wondering for those who have gotten interview dates (and i know it may be different at different embassies) but did you wait to be contacted about an interview date or did you call and email the embassy as soon as you knew they had your case? I've been told by others from Honduras that some get interviews right away while others are having to wait as many as 3 months. The only thing we are waiting on is a copy of her passport which we are suppose to have on Monday. I plan on sending it next day and they have been entering things at NVC within about ten days. Im just getting prepared and hoping for an interview soon....but not too soon since i'm stll waiting to receive my passport too.

I'm so happy you have your daughter with you and your husband and it's such a nice feeling knowing that day is coming for us to. Salamat kaayo kaayo!

1. how quickly was your visa issued after the embassy received your results?

A- 22 days. When they got the DNA result, it was Tuesday 7/3/12, they pass it to the person who check if everything is ok. I think they started it on the next day Wednesday 7/4/12. Then a week after it was Wednesday 7/11/12. my husband called and they said it was forwarded to the CO, he is the one who decide if the visa is approve. After 2 weeks the CO issue the visa. I think it make sense that we got the visa after 2 weeks because there are people who had their DNA 2 weeks ahead than us.

One more thing when we went to the US Embassy for the DNA sample collection. I asked the guard if I can submit my daughter's passport because I'm sure that the DNA result will be positive so that when the CO will approve the visa they already got my daughter's passport because I don't wanna waste time. The guard called the person inside if I can submit my daughter's passport. The person who answered the phone said. I can go to the window number (I forgot the number). He is a very nice Filipino guy and I told him the same thing. He said OK. So, maybe if you didn't submit your kid's passport yet I think that will add more days.

2. Did you have to follow to make sure they got the results and issued the visa?

A- Yes my husband called the embassy twice a week. He called the U.S. citizen number and told them that he want to talk to the supervisor of the Fraud Prevention Unit, because they can tell you details about the case. I think it's better that the U.S. citizen will call the embassy because I did try to call twice and they didn't gave me a straight answer. They only said that the visa is still on process.

Here's my DNA timeline.

6/6/2012 - Ordered and Paid DNA Kit - I chatted my husband through Skype,I scanned the 221g document requesting DNA test that I got from the US Embassy and sent it to my husband in his email. Then my husband go to the US embassy Manila website and there are list of AABB Accredited Relationship (DNA) Testing Facilities in the US,we choose the AABB Accredited closer to our place. He provided them our MNL case number, my name and my daughter's name, our birthday and he emailed them the documents requesting a DNA test.

6/11/2012 - DNA Kit arrived.

6/15/2012 - Paid St Lukes (PHP 1,500) for the DNA sample collection

6/27/2012 - DNA samples collection for me and my daughter at the US Embassy

7/03/2012 - US Embassy got the DNA result (the same day that my husband got the 221g letter requesting DNA test though snail mail from the US Embassy) I'm glad we did not waited for that mail and we save 27 days.

7/11/2012 - My husband called the US Embassy and they said that our case was forwarded to the CO for the final review.

7/25/2012 - Visa approved

7/27/2012 - Visa delivered

They just do the DNA sample collection in the US Embassy Manila every Wednesday and I've noticed that they forwarded our case to the CO at 7/11/2012 Wednesday and 7/25/2012 Wednesday - Visa approved

Hi all,

I haven't signed into Visajourney since my husband received his visa in April 2011. He has been in the US since August 2011 and now we are in the waiting process for the NOA2 for his three children. I'm trying so hard to be patient but their process has already taken longer than his (we got his NOA2 within 2.5 months and we've been waiting for over 4 for the kids). I know that many people have to wait much longer than that but for all of us who just want to see our beloved spouses reunited with their children and to begin their journey in the US it's absolute torture.

Any words of wisdom from experience welcome.

Also, how do you add the kids' petition onto your timeline?

Thanks,

Rebecca

A co-sponsor for the I-864 just has to be an LPR or USC residing in the U.S. So you could pick the brother or the father, whoever has sufficient income. It also doesn't have to be a relative.

It is only the I-134 associated with I-129f petitions that the Philippine embassy will typically reject co-sponsors. This is not the case when filing I-130s which use the I-864.

Hi all,

<snip>

Also, how do you add the kids' petition onto your timeline?

Thanks,

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, it can be very hard when waiting for children's approvals. I hope you hear something soon. As far as I know you can only have one timeline per log in so I believe if you want to input data for the kids you would have to create a new log in. You could also post this question in the site related discussion forum, you might get a better answer there.

Hi Lucy4! Sorry you haven't heard anything yet. Where did your petition end up, CSC? VSC? I think things have been slowing down considerably and 4 months is no longer the norm for CSC. It remains to be seen on the petitions sent to local offices via NBC.
