Congrats evoria on getting your NOA1!

MSC is the Missouri service center and some family based immigrant petitions have been sent there lately for processing. I don't think you will be able to find a processing time on the USCIS website as MSC does not typically handle this type of petition. If you search here on vj you should be able to find a few threads about people being processed or transferred to Missouri. Some people are saying that getting sent to Missouri will result in a faster processing time than the slowing CSC or VSC but I don't know if there is enough info to call it a trend yet.

Good luck and speedy process!

That is good news if you can get the records! Hopefully they will issue the visa after you send that in.

Did you already order and pay for the DNA kit?

No not at all. Because we can't get the DNA testing as the papers the embassy gave my step daughter only indicate medical or school records requested NOT DNA. They only said tht verbally.

Can I please ask why they requested the DNA testing? We are getting ready to petition for my stepson. My husband wasn't married to the child's mother but is named on the child's birth certificate as his father. I emailed the consulate in Jamaica to get information about the DNA testing and they stated that we wouldn't know if the DNA testing would be needed until the interview. Do you think we should go ahead and get the DNA testing done before the interview? I went through all kinds of changes with USCIS trying to get my husband here. It took almost two years for the entire process. I don't want to have the same issues with the child. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly I think it is just what they feel like doing. Her dad is on her birth certificate and we have more than enough paperwork, pictures since she is 3, she is 16 now etc. Multiple trips with both of us and pictures to support those trips etc. First they are requesting school or medical records. If we can not provide those then they want DNA. However, DNA can not be ordered unless they change the paperwork to indicate DNA. The DNA lab said in Minneapolis that they could do it, but sometimes the embassy in Jamaica wont accept it if it has not been ordered, therefore its best to wait until they say to do it, otherwise you could incur paying the money twice.

ITS HERE! Interview scheduled for January 10!!! its such a nice feeling!

NICE GOOD LUCK!

Just an update on our situation we had the kid's interview this past week. The interview itself was incrediably short. The IO only asked the kids their name and ages then he told us he had no issues with our case it was just the lack of paperwork of my husband as their father. He said that we could either amend the birth certificates to add my husband's name OR do the DNA. We were pretty sure the DNA would be the fastest so that is what we are in the midst of doing.

On another note the IO was convinced we could do the test locally at the same place we got the medical and that information was also confirmed by the supervisor we talked to when getting our exit papers. Of course when we tried to contact St. Luke's they insisted the kit had to be ordered from the U.S. and that they did not have DNA tests. So we are going through that whole process described by meblue.

I think it is a case by case basis and depends upon the specific person interviewing you but I believe if we had any DNA results in our packet or an amended b/c the kids would have gotten their visas that day.

So that's what's going on with us. Good luck to everyone and lets keep the approvals up and the complications down!

Thanks for the info. My husband has only been here since June of this year. He has had the child with him for the past three years. The child is only 5 and the biological mother doesn't really have alot to do with him. The child is currently staying with my husbands mother. We have sent money to the grandmother to help assist her with the childs finances since my husband came here. We have kept all the Western Union receipts to verify that my husband is being financially responsible for him while he has been here. Do you think we should get documentation from family members to verify that the child has been with my husband and that he left him with his mother when he came here? I hate USCIS and their rules. It's really like you said, it all depends on what kind of mood there in. I am trying to forsee any issues before they come up. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

NICE GOOD LUCK!

Sweetie! I am so sorry you are still dealing with this instead of enjoying your daughter's company! Just wrong! I hope you get some resolution soon! I just put our angel to bed! We are having a blast. I am having so much fun being her mommy fulltime. We are having lots of firsts! I think I am doing pretty good with her hair! i have 5 hair styles. i'm learning all about detangling, braiding, conditioning, etc... Getting lunches ready and being on time to preschool and work has been going well. I know your daughter is older but I hope you get to have all the joy I am having very soon! I am so grateful for all the support from this group! Couldn't have made it without you all. Hugs to you all!
