Call the Immigrant Visa (IV) line at your embassy and ask to be transfered to the Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU) concerning DNA testing. When you get someone in the FPU department ask to speak with the person in charge of DNA scheduling to see if they can't tell you what's going on and maybe get your schedule pushed up.

I was able to get our DNA collection for 2 weeks after our interview by doing this.

Good luck

Is there any problem if I get the interview on January and fly to USA after my 21 birthday?(may 24)

I'm hesitant to answer any questions about aging out but I think your age was locked in when the petition was accepted. Hopefully someone else can confirm that.

The visa will have a date that you must enter the U.S. by though usually 6 months from its issuance. The IR2 is not like a K1 and you should get a stamp in your passport at POE that will allow exit and enter the U.S. until you get your actual greencard.

Hi everyoone...

I've been lurking here for a while.

On Monday my husband has his interview in Ghana.

We'er still waiting for an interview date for the children. They will be interviewing in Lagos.

Will the children get a date before my husband's interview is completed?

Meaning I was told by NVC that interviews will be scheduled at the beginning of November.

Will they wait for the outcome of his interview therefore spoiling chances for a December date?

Hi Ebun12 and welcome!

Sorry your post got buried a little bit. I hope your husband's interview went well. You may already have your answer but just in case, in my opinion, the cases aren't directly linked in that they aren't waiting for the outcome to schedule the children's interview but if there was a problem at the interview of your husband, depending on what it was, it most likey will need to be resolved before the children can be approved for their visas.

Hope everything went well!

our interview was oct 1st and they requested dna, i am still waiting. 520 dollars for the two dna tests. one done in the united states, and the other test has been waiting at the embassy for ever....then we had to send them to st andrew's hospital to pay another 50 dollar fee and get a receit to bring to the dna test that we havn't even gotten an apt for yet.

Can I please ask if you know why the DNA test was required? We are getting ready to petition for my husbands son. My husband was not married to the child's mother but is named as the father on the child's birth certificate. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I just hate those awful people. My husbands name is on her birth certificate. We have pictures with her since she was 5. AND they still want a DNA testing.. Are you kidding me!

Can I please ask why they requested the DNA testing? We are getting ready to petition for my stepson. My husband wasn't married to the child's mother but is named on the child's birth certificate as his father. I emailed the consulate in Jamaica to get information about the DNA testing and they stated that we wouldn't know if the DNA testing would be needed until the interview. Do you think we should go ahead and get the DNA testing done before the interview? I went through all kinds of changes with USCIS trying to get my husband here. It took almost two years for the entire process. I don't want to have the same issues with the child. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It is almost always requested unless the Officer is feeling charitable. Jamaica is one of the problem countries in terms of paternity issues.

Try to send in lots of evidence showing that a bond exists. If you do the DNA testing beforehand you must ensure that it is at a facility recognized by the embassy but wait until you have the case number so that they can send the results directly to the embasssy because they will not accept it from you. good luck.

I contacted one of the facilities that is approved by the embassy. They told me the DNA couldn't be done in advance. Do you know of a way that it can be done in advance? My step son is currently with my husbands mother, the child's grandmother. My husband has always had the child. The biological mother hardly has any contact at all. What would you suggest I send to verify the paternity? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was trying to find the thread for you here on VJ where someone did it in advance and sent it in with the I-130 but cant find it. See if you can find it. I recall that they did one on their own and sent it in. However, they were told that that they cannot accept it directly from them and they should ask the facility to send the report to the embassy and it was accepted.

If they are insisting that it cannot be done that way maybe things have changed.

WHY? OMG that is awful! We are able to do the dna here and they actually email the results and mail the kit down. Then the kit is given to embassy in which they call her back in for that test and give resulsts at the same time. However, what happened is I got the paperwork and they had not requested DNA on the paper. They only requested school records with both their names on it, so that is what I am trying to get now. OH MY GOD these people! I just hope they are happy with the school records!

Congrats evoria on getting your NOA1!

MSC is the Missouri service center and some family based immigrant petitions have been sent there lately for processing. I don't think you will be able to find a processing time on the USCIS website as MSC does not typically handle this type of petition. If you search here on vj you should be able to find a few threads about people being processed or transferred to Missouri. Some people are saying that getting sent to Missouri will result in a faster processing time than the slowing CSC or VSC but I don't know if there is enough info to call it a trend yet.

Good luck and speedy process!

That is good news if you can get the records! Hopefully they will issue the visa after you send that in.

Did you already order and pay for the DNA kit?
