We went to New Orleans on Tuesday to the Honduras Consulate so we could get the authorization for biological mom to get passport for our daughter. Of course they have to have the original letter and not a copy so i sent it yesterday and although we paid $50 to get the letter there in 3-5 days customs could hold it for a month once it is there. We are hoping this doesnt happen but we are just going off of past experience. So once she has authorization letter she can get passport and then send us a copy of the bio page which is all we are waiting for. I was really hoping for December interview date but it's looking more likely that it will be Jan or Feb. Keeping my fingers crossed though.

Congrats to those who have had recent approvals and good luck to everyone else still going through this process!

Just an update on our situation we had the kid's interview this past week. The interview itself was incrediably short. The IO only asked the kids their name and ages then he told us he had no issues with our case it was just the lack of paperwork of my husband as their father. He said that we could either amend the birth certificates to add my husband's name OR do the DNA. We were pretty sure the DNA would be the fastest so that is what we are in the midst of doing.

On another note the IO was convinced we could do the test locally at the same place we got the medical and that information was also confirmed by the supervisor we talked to when getting our exit papers. Of course when we tried to contact St. Luke's they insisted the kit had to be ordered from the U.S. and that they did not have DNA tests. So we are going through that whole process described by meblue.

I think it is a case by case basis and depends upon the specific person interviewing you but I believe if we had any DNA results in our packet or an amended b/c the kids would have gotten their visas that day.

So that's what's going on with us. Good luck to everyone and lets keep the approvals up and the complications down!

Thanks PSDavid.

There was a thread on this site talking about some big backlog with El Salvador and scheduling interviews http://http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/394000-nvc-glitch-causes-huge-el-salvador-backlog/ I don't know if this has affected you or not but you sure have been waiting a long time for your interview and I hope you can get it sorted out soon.

Have you also tried sending an email to NVC for an update on your case?

Gargh. What a pain. I wonder when the people who got December interviews had case closed at NVC. If I remember correctly weren't you case closed in August or sometime around then? Does Jan. work for your schedule? Do you have school or anything you need to start in the U.S.?

Case was closed on september 27.

And 2013 is my last year of college that i need to finish here in El Salvador so i kinda helps me because on june i have vacations so i can travel to the us and get my Green card and come back for the last semester of the year and then return to the US. Otherwise if the interview would have been in December or november i would have to travel on x-mas 2012 and get a re-entry permit and then return to El Salvador and finish last year. LOL

Nothing has happened. We did not get to go due to hurricane. They closed the embassy and our appointment was canceled. I facebooked the embassy and they replied back with they will be emailing and calling with a new appointment time. As of yet, 10.31.12, we have not heard from them with a new time. We were stressed as we had to send my husband back home from Florida where he got stuck en route. Another plane ticket. BUT you know what it is what it is. As long as my daughter is safe in Jamaica from the hurricane and everyone is acounted for we can deal with the rest. So now I am just waiting...

Just wanna say, I'm thinking about you! Hope things move soon for you!

I am so frustrated! So we couldnt get our 3 year old a passport until we went to Honduras Consulate so my husband could get authorization to send to biological mom saying she has permission to get the baby a passport. So we did that and sent it to her. Now they say that she has to travel to the capital which is about 4 hours away from where she lives so that they can verify the authenticity of the letter we sent even though it was on letter head from the consulate along with some type of Stamp showing we paid $50 for the authorization and a color copy of my husbands passport bio page that they also signed and stamped showing that orginial passport was presented as proof of biological father signing authorization. Once she does that they told her she has to make an appointment to get a passport which they cant schedule until December. This seems like it's never ending. The only thing we are waiting on is her passport.

Good thing that it must end! You just have to do what you have to do but I can understand why you must be frustrated. Some countries must make some processes seem so much more difficult.

I just hate those awful people. My husbands name is on her birth certificate. We have pictures with her since she was 5. AND they still want a DNA testing.. Are you kidding me!

our interview was oct 1st and they requested dna, i am still waiting. 520 dollars for the two dna tests. one done in the united states, and the other test has been waiting at the embassy for ever....then we had to send them to st andrew's hospital to pay another 50 dollar fee and get a receit to bring to the dna test that we havn't even gotten an apt for yet.
