For step child its just the i-130. It's not a good idea to send them more than they ask for.just confusing. Follow this link, its very clear what you need to send. You will need to send your marriage certificate to prove the step child-parent relationship between your child and your husband. Your husband also needs to send proof of US citizenship. I also included pictures of me with my step-daughter.

I believe thats it. It's pretty straight forward.

There is more to send later when you get to the NVC but you don't ever send the G325a. Good luck!

HEY there Im not sure what I was refering to there. But you pay for your visa to be sent to you by DHL once your at the embassy. Its a trivial amount of money. Like 10 or 15 US or something. And they use to let you pay for expedite it quicker. So we will see if you can still expedite or not.

AND GUYS NO FREAKING INTERVIEW DATE YET...IM SO BLOODY ANNOYED...SERIOUSLY I JUST TOOK OFF MY PTO DAY I HAD PLANNED CUZ I THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE HERE AND WE WOUDL BE GOING TO STATE FAIR!! NOT...

Sorry to hear no interview scheduled yet. I assume you have been calling and checking? We have been waiting since Aug 9 so only about 3 weeks but feels like forever. I know you understand. Hoping you get good news soooooooon!

Welcome to vj and welcome to the IR2 thread Dmdalt!

I'm sorry that you had such a hiccup in the process, however the fact that you haven't heard anything is most likely a good sign and they are now getting on with processing your case.

It will be a very happy day when the brothers finally get to meet :star:

Good luck!

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Honduras
Timeline

Hi everyone. I am new to this site and to the visa journey itself. I am USC petitioning for my minor stepdaughter in Honduras. I filed I-130 July 2 recd. NOA July 9th. Case was sent to California for processing and havent heard anything since then. My questions is this. Has anyone else petitioned for a stand alone visa for a child that is too young to be interviewed and if so what did they do? My stepdaughter is only 2 and obviously wouldnt be able to answer questions. We have considered going to Honduras to be there for the interview but we are expecting to have to do a DNA because my husband was never married to biological mother although he is listed on the birth certificate. I know that if this is requested it can take some time to get results. We were hoping to not have to travel there until it is time to pick her up. I was told the interview could be waived because of her age but just wondering if anyone has heard of this or experienced it. I really dont feel comfortable sending her biological mother all of our financial records or having her answer the questions in the interview. Any insite is much appreciated.

So sorry to hear this. I have heard they only schedule interviews at the beginning of each month so if you miss that window by even a day you have to wait another month. Not sure how true it is. I saw that people who closed case around 23rd of July got scheduled in DR for Sept so I kind of figured I missed the window but I kept hoping especially since the interview list on the Santo Domingo website says Sept interview list-preliminary! My husband skype'd with our daughter and she was not happy with him because we didnt bring her. How can they possibly understand this crazy process at 3. Grrrrr!

Its interesting, the US embassy in DR posts case numbers with interview dates and times on their website but the US embassy in Jamaica doesn't seem to do that. Hoping we hear soon!

Jimnlena don't lose hope. Once you clear the NVC you really can't go by others who are assigned to embassies different than your own. Some embassies move faster than others. Good luck hope your embassy moves quick!

I don't know how the embassy in Honduras works but unmarried fathers don't automatically get a DNA request and also haven't heard anyone sharing info about having the interview waived. We have a three year old and fully expect an interview of which because it's the DR we are required to be there otherwise it would be automatically denied. While not necessarily required attendance, it's considered bad form for petitioner not to be at interview. Since part of interview is to establish parental relationship, it would look weird if my husband isn't there. But thats the DR so not sure if I can advise you to be there for sure. I completely understand the hardship of going especially if there is a chance you have to go back again for DNA. But if I were you, I'd go. Too much riding on that interview! I've heard that basically they just wanna see everyone's face for little ones like ours. I'm sure they are also watching interactions while you wait in the waiting room.

Good luck! I hope all goes smoothly for you.

Thank you. I agree with you. We will most likely both be there for the interview. After all the waiting anything that can possibly help is worth doing. I've heard that they don't always require DNA so we will just pray that doesnt delay the process. Thank you for your response. Good Luck with your case as well.

Ya I know, I would love if they did! Naturally they don't to make me crazy. HAHAAH. Kidding. Well We were apoproved and sent to embassy on August 4th I believe it was so disappointing. I understood they schedule 2nd Tuesday of each month which we were under so it really blew me away that she wouldnt be scheduled. I was so sad. Still am. She has graduated and hs nothing to do, which makes us nervous. You know...its hard to get jobs there. Not enough for regular adults let alone a teenager and now without school Im hoping she dont get herself in trouble. They graduate when 16 there so it makes it a hard time for us to wait yet another month. Crazy business.
