I finally got my passport with my k1 visa on it this past monday and Im leaving THIS friday. When I bought my ticket I totally forgot about getting a travel insurance. Today I called my travel agency and they told me that I don't need one for a one way ticket trip, but I'm still with the doubt. Im scare cause Im leaving in 2 days and tomorrow is a holiday here in VENEZUELA (our independence day) and nothing and no one is working tomorrow. That means that I will not have time to buy it.

Do I really need it??? should I be worry?

Actually you don't need one.on arrival, the immigration is only concerned with passports and visas.Even I entered twice in this country and i never had medical insurance and I was never asked for the same, But it's good to have one for your own convenience, because the medical in this country will rip you off if you don't :bonk: :bonk: have one.

Travel insurance and health insurance are two different animals. You cannot be covered by travel insurance while you will be the U.S. as you are permanently moving to another country, you are not "traveling".

If you are looking for a temporary health insurance to cover you while you are in the U.S. but not yet covered by your spouse's insurance plan, you can search online for temporary health insurance. Be sure to double check if resident aliens are covered by the plan you choose. I did business with Patriot America so I can give you that name if you want to look into it. I did not have a claim with them so I cannot say whether they offer good service or not.

US citizen since April 2016

AOS from K1 completed February 2012
