Hello All,

I received my interview letter. It is asking to bring tax paperwork (based on 3 years). I have already attached the original IRS Form 1722 transcrips with my N400 application. Do I need to re-order them or should I just bring the copies I made before I mailed N400?

Thanks much

They might want to see the originals and they might have misplaced the ones you sent, you never know. I would play it safe and order new ones for the interview.

Suppose to send in only copies of your original documentation with your N-400 application, then bring in all those originals for your interview you send copies of. This is done this way so your interviewer can check your copies you sent in are verbatim copies of your originals and you were not fooling with them.

You leave with all of your original documentation, if you bring in additional original documentation, they will make copies of it and give you your original documentation back. You don't leave original documentation like your green card, foreign passport, home deed, etc. Everything you bring in, you take out with you.

Really no major issue with tax transcripts, can get additional copies for free. But if you leave important papers that are extremely difficult to get from your home country, you will have major problems.

Not making this up, its in the instructions.

I sent copies so for the interview I had the originals in hands. Only the one from last year I didn't have because I got error message after trying to get the transcript (got them some time later though). So for the interview I took my originals and 2011 Tax return papers plus copies of the federal and state checks (and copies of everything). My officer didn't ask to see any original but this can vary, so, I would be safe and order new ones (and the are free!) and take them 9orignal and copy of everything you take). Good luck. :)
