My case was reaffirmed early this month. I am wondering how long will I have to wait for NVC to contact me with a case number? Does anyone know? I have called twice and both times they tell me that they have not received it yet. And does the USCIS send it to them right away or do they hold it for a while? The representatives that answer the phone say 15 business days which is 3 weeks.

If your petition was approved more than 15 days ago, please email a scanned copy of your I-797 or I-171 Notice of Action - Approval Notice to NVCResearch@state.gov. Please type the receipt number in the subject line of your email and include one attachment/case per email. NVC will contact U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on your behalf to locate your petition.

ya, sorry - when a case is re-affirmed, there is not any new case number assigned.

I've no clue how to trace/track casefile movement back to the IV unit, but surely DoS Hotline, USCIS hotline, NVC hotline - between those 3 folks, and you using a telephone, can suss out something for location?

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
