Maintaining F-1 Status while waiting for paperwork to be received.

Hi, I have a question that might have been asked before, but a search didn't turn up anything.

If it has been asked before, I apologize for not doing a more thorough search.

I'm getting ready the documents to apply for the AOS for my wife, who is currently on F-1 status right now.

Her classes end in about 4 weeks, and it'll take us about 3 weeks to get the package ready to send out.

So worst case is, her classes will end maybe a week or 2 before USCIS gets the package and sends us the NOA.

My question is, does she have to register for next semester's classes to stay in F-1 status while waiting for USCIS to get the package? Or can she just use the 60 days that F-1 holders have after they finish school to stay in the US legally?

Thanks

Overstay is forgiven for immediate relatives of US Citizens who adjust in-country, so it matters not either way.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
