I am regerring to the talk of baby, and things going on.... such as what is going on with who... general gossip. Also, there is the thing of not exactly telling everything going on to the husband. the idea is women have their things they talk about, and sometimes men are just not supposed to know. Or pretend not to know.

the idea is the husband is the CEO and runs the business, the wife is the CFO, and takes care of the accounts. the husband looks at the accounts, but does not pay attention to petty cash, etc unless something major happens. Going to the CEO is bad unless there is a reason to. otherwise the COF keeps things going to the CEO can just deal with major issues. At least that is the way I see it in my wife's village.

She can talk to her mom, aunts, cousins, who have had babies to get more information form them. what to expect when, and to know when things are good, and when things are not good. things I would not understand because I do not have a bby inside of me.... unless of course you count that really spicy burrito and pizza on friday night.... but that is a movement of a different kind....

My wife never mentioned any traditions. She didn't really seem to know much about any of it. I am the one who made the doctor appointments and did all the research. I learned what to do to ease her morning sickness, such as raising her to a 45 degree angle at first in the morning and giving her dry toast to ease her stomach. I figured out what was best for her to eat. I gave her the vitamins each night mixed with yogurt since that is the only way she could keep it down. She has a Masters degree and is from Manila area, not a village, so she didn't have any "wives tales" that she believed in. I researched almost daily what was developing and when, and just made sure she ate healthy, got exercise (mostly in the form of walks and occasionally relaxed swimming at the pool), took her vitamins, had her regular check-ups, and monitored her health even more closely when she was sick.

Oh, and a side note it was so exciting to listen to our baby's heart beat in our own home with a stethoscope. He just turned 21 months old 2 days ago.......

I get a chuckle out of superstitions and beliefs that float about.

Story I head one time was of a woman that was preparing dinner and her friend was there chatting with her, just before the woman put the roast in the pan she cut an end off it the proceeded to put it in the oven. After awhile the girlfriend asked her why she cut the end off the roast, her reply was "its something my mother always did so I have continued to do it". Still the girlfriend was curious so the woman called her mom to ask why she cut the end off a roast before cooking it, her mother's reply was pretty simple - my roasting pan was too small ...

When I was pregnant I didn't really know much about those supertitous belief or tradition so I only have my OB and hubby that helped me. I was still doing all normal stuff. And baby is fine and very healthy.
