For the K-1 visa, what should I get notarized for the interview. I know I need to get the I-134 notarized, but what else does it help with?

Should I get the originals and the copies of my tax returns notarized?

What about the letters of intent? the employer letter?

I mean it would look stupid if everything was stamped. So what is the most important stuff? what did you do?

Also, what do I do about the bond thing. It asks if you are willing to submit a bond on behalf of the beneficiary. Is this a letter I have to write, or just something I check on the I-134?

06/30/06- sent I-129F petition to VSC.

07/11/06- NOA1 (received in mail)

07/19/06- RFE received in mail, IMBRA

07/28/06- e-mail, IMBRA RFE received at VSC

09/11/06- called VSC, told I'm with an adjudicating officer

09/25/06- called VSC, told to file expedited service, outside 60 days of RFE received date

09/26/06- sent expedited service request to VSC via fax and snail mail

09/26/06- Senators and Congressman making inquiries into my petition

09/29/06- expedited service request approved by VSC director

10/04/06- e-mail NOA2 approved!!!!!!

10/05/06- NVC received

10/06/06- NVC forwarded to Poland Embassy

10/16/06- Packet #3 received

10/17/06- Packet #3 sent to US Embassy Warsaw

10/30/06- Packet #4 received

10/30/06- Interview scheduled for November 22nd!!!

11/30/06- Visa in hand, via DHL!!!!

12/05/06- Ania and I arrive together in the USA

02/11/07- Ania applied for Social Security Card

02/17/07- Ania and I were MARRIED!!!!!!

07/24/07- Social Security Card in hand- after some minor issues and a little procrastination :)

10/14/07- I-485, I-765, and permission to travel mailed to USCIS

10/17/07- Received NOA1

12/17/07- I-485 shipped to California Service Center for faster service

12/17/07- I-765 approved new card should be mailed within 30 days, Advanced parole approved

02/28/08- AOS APPROVED!!!! PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD RECEIVED!!!!! (card received couple weeks after approval)

The only document that need to be notarized is the I-134.

So when I see that people have gotten there taxes notarized it's just precaution? does it help at all? or probably doesn't matter. Do you think it would hurt?

I notarized the letter of intent and I 134. If there is no signiture then it doesn't

need to be notarized as the purpose is a witness of siginiture.

Ahh! I see. Well my taxes are signed by me and the CPA. Should I get them notarized now then?

They don't ask on the instructions (on I-134) for other documents to be notarized. I had originals (in some cases, the originals were copies) and copies of the supporting documents and none of them were notarized. I don't think it's needed, but I don't think it'd hurt.

As per the new letter of intent, some have theirs notarized. My fiance's haven had his notarized, but then again, the consulate hasn't asked to see it.

You don't have to do anything.

Signing the affidavit just affirms those 3 questions that are in that section.

I have no idea though what it means though. It's probably legal mumbo-jumbo for something they can nail your hide to the wall with......

This document isn't the one that binds you to USCIS anyway. It's the I-864 you file later on that does.

Somebody else is going to have to explain why, cause I don't know. I just know that it isn't.

How would you do that? They're already signed, and are in the hands of the IRS.

A notary must witness the signing.

The instructions for the I-134 are just that - instructions for the I-134. And although I-134 is most often part of the financial evidence presented it is not always necessary.

As it happens, the instruction for meeting the public charge requirenments of the law, DS-2000 (formerly OF-167), does say that notarized tax returns are one of the items that can be presented. The anecdotal evidence is, however, that the 'notarized' part is ignored.
