i heard that now in fairfax VA office , you cannot have the oath ceremony same day when you have ur interview. they schedule you for the oath ceremony another day.

is that true?

if yes, then how long it take to have your oath ceremony?

Please tell me this isn't true, we applied for that office because of same day oath, wow this journey is turning in to a nightmare

I'm not gonna start with my fiance citizenship journey with the Fairfax office. But they issued an RFE at the interview so he wasn't approved that day. But when he (finally) got the letter to say he was approved (sorry if the term is incorrect)in the letter he got a date for an oath ceremony two weeks later, so it doesn't look like it's a long wait. But I really don't know so hope somebody else can give you the information. Good luck!

Hi, When did your Fiance have his interview, was it recently?

He had his interview in September 2010. Responded to the RFE in October and didn't get an letter of approval before late March last year.... So I really don't know how it's there now....sorry.

This question is asked so frequently about Fairfax (use the search ). There was sameday oath in July of 2011 - my interview was late that day so I missed it. My oath was exactly 1 week after my interview.

I have had 3-4 friends in the past year who also got their citizenship and each of them had same day Oath....two as recently as Nov so unless something has changed, yes - they have same day oath. Whether you get in depends on being approved (of course) and the time of day of your interview. 1 friend was in the morning and she had same day oath at 11:30 am or so. The other couple were midday/ early afternoon and they had an early afternoon oath.
