So, it's obviously a great weekend for us! It actually only took a little over 4 months for them to approve it, and no RFE.

I had front-loaded my petition and everything went smooth. In December/January I was in Bogota visiting my fiancee and I left her an exact copy of the I-129F packet, all the evidence, etc.

My question is...what documents do I need to have my fiancee start collecting NOW for the Interview? I know I need to do an I-134, DS-156 for my fiance...I'm going to spend a good portion of today studying this stuff and I'll probably have more questions later.

But I want to be able to give my fiancee a list of things she can be doing right now. I know she'll need her birth-certificate, a copy of the I-129F packet, etc.

Is there a clear and concise list of exactly what she should be doing?

Along with getting acquainted with the country forum where the interview will be held (they can help with the type of questions asked, if different forms are needed, etc.), be sure to read the K-1 Guide starting here, What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2): http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Okay, I've been looking over forms, studying, reading the message forums for about hours today and last night. I feel like I'm getting a better grasp of some things...but i'm getting more and more confused on others.

According to the VJ K-1 Flow Chart, about 1 week after the Bogota Consulate receives the K-1 packet they will send my fiance a packet that has a "checklist of items and paperwork". Then it says because the mail in Bogota is inefficient so they will send a link to all of these forms and information. I assume they will send this link to me? I don't recall if we ever gave them my fiancee's email address. It says this will be all the information in the packet:

Open appointment letter

DS-156

DS-156K (if for fiancé(e))

Information about photos (need for interview and medical exam)

LIST OF DOCUMENTS to be taken to interview

VISA FEE INFORMATION

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

So do we just sit back and wait for this info before she can actually start doing anything? I assume she can start preliminarily gathering some things...like Birth Certificate, taking more passport fotos, etc. What else could she be doing right now?

I think I'm fairly well prepared for the things I need to send her. I have my past tax forms and I have old check stubs. Aside from getting a letter from my work, I should be able to put the I-134 together right now. My fiancee already has the complete copy of the original I-129F packet with photos, evidence, etc. It looks like I just need to gather some more evidence to prove we are still in a relationship. After that I should be good to send her everything. I noticed it says to send "all originals"...is this really necessary? They need my actual plane boarding passes, etc. not photocopies?

Is there anything else I/we should be doing right now? Should I have my fiancee talk to her doctors to see what vaccinations she's had, etc. or should we just wait for the packet?

Sorry for the long message....doing this stuff just turns my head into a big ball of stress.

Need to read the instructions for the I-134. Under Supporting Evidence: You need letter or letters from bank or banks, to state date account opened, total amount deposited for the past year, and present balance. I had to pay for my Bank of America's letter.

Also, letter from employer to state date and nature of employment, salary paid, and whether the position is temporary or permanent.

Oz, as long as his income is 125% above the poverty level for his state, he does not need bank statements or prove assets on the I-134. If you are above the 125%, then tax return, letter from employer, and a couple of pay statements will work...that's what I submitted and had no issues.

I think I should be in the clear as far as the 125% goes. I live in Indy, and I think (according to some stats I just checked) family of 2 poverty line is under 20k and I make more than 20k so I should be good.

I do have a few more questions though. Do they need the entire 5 or 6 page packet for each tax return or do they just want to see the 1040EZ that has my total income and taxes paid information?

I currently work two jobs and I plan on including 3-5 recent pay stubs from each job, plus a letter from each employer, and the I-134 form.

So where the I-134 asks about assets and how much value I have in "personal items" I don't need to fill any of this in?

Though if there is ANY question, maybe I should go ahead and get the Bank Letter. I use a smaller, local bank so I don't think it would take to much time or cost anything to get it.

So the DS 156 is Online only? Is there any reason I can't fill this out for my fiance just for the sake of making things easier?

Yes, they would need everything from your tax return, including 1040, schedules and attachments and W-2s and/or 1099s. If you get tax return transcripts from the IRS is much easier. You only need the transcript from the IRS and do not have to worry about whether or not you included your complete return. They are free: http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html

If you make enough in income alone to meet or beat the 125% level, then you can simply leave the assets portion of the I-134 blank. No need to fill those in if you do not need to use assets to reach 125% of the poverty level. Also, no reason for bank statements or a bank letter then either. Just a letter from your employer stating position and salary, latest tax transcript and a few months worth of your most recent pay stubs.

Just to clarify here, the poverty guidelines are federally determined so what state you're in is not a concern. Yes, 20k is above. The form I-864P is what you should rely on as a guideline and can be found here: I-864P info.

Thanks guys. The tax return transcripts (2011, 2010) were really simple/quick to request. Hopefully they show up next week. So that's all they will need as far as taxes go, huh? I'm all stocked up on pay-stubs too, so that's good. Filling out the I-134 may be a little tricky because I work one job considered full time, but my hours fluctuate so I picked up a second job to fill in the gaps when I'm not working at my primary job. I see the I-134 only has room for one job. I assume in this situation it would be okay to attach a brief letter to the I-134 explaining my job situation? Or is that even necessary? I was planning on having my part-time boss write a letter for the packet as well as my full-time boss.

Adding the sheet about having a second job and providing letters from both employers sounds like a good plan to me.
