Okay, interview is coming up on May 16.

I'm trying to plan this trip as much in advance as possible.

I've searched on the VJ forums but haven't found much regarding how long it has taken Ciudad Juarez to DHL mail the acceptance/denial package back to the petitioner. I've heard 2 days to 1 week.

Can anybody chime in as to how long they've had to wait?

Awesome! Did you do your Medical and ASC the same day? Did you have plenty of time? My interview is on a Wednesday, so I'm not sure if I should get to Juarez on Tuesday (to knock out Medical and ASC same time) or give myself two days before the interview.

My wife did her ASC in her hometown (Tijuana) a week or so ahead of her interview. If you're near a city that has an ASC center, I strongly suggest doing it there—you'll save the time and extra expense of staying in Juarez another day. You can use http://usvisa-info.com/ to schedule your ASC appointment for any time before your interview.

My wife arrived in Juarez Sunday night, did the medical on Monday, and had the interview on Tuesday. She did NOT opt to stay in Juarez and wait for the visa; through the same usvisa-info.com site, she requested that it be delivered to Tijuana.

She had her interview Tuesday morning, and left to go home that afternoon. Thursday morning, her visa arrived in Tijuana.

Your mileage may vary, but it was a two-day turnaround for us, and in another city to boot.

Very helpful!

I will take your advice on getting the ASC out of the way beforehand. I'm sure there's one in Guadalajara.

Thanks again Dan!

Thanks again Dan!

You're welcome! This page lists the ASC centers (just click on "Applicant Service Center (ASC) Locations"). Looks like there is one in Guadalajara.

http://usvisa-info.com/en-MX/selfservice/us_consulate_information

All you'll need to do is register yourself an account, and then go set up an appointment. As I remember, the website was a little difficult to use -- there are a number of options in the menu that don't apply to you, and if you click on them, you get "Not found" 404 errors. I was thinking that there was some problem with the website, but it was really me not clicking on the right link (and the website not being graceful about handling it).

I remember successfully scheduling an ASC appointment after choosing to "submit documents to consular section", so look out for that link.

You can also register for DHL courier service through that page -- and choose which DHL office you'd like to have your visa delivered to. I would also recommend doing that ahead of time; it might make your package go out quicker.

Good luck!

What is the ASC appointment for? Where do I read about it?

The ASC appointment is simply where they take your fingerprints and biometrics prior to the interview. Once you have an interview date from the Consulate, you can go online and make an appointment with an ASC, either in a major city or in Juarez.

More info here:

http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/iv_steps3.html

There are a lot of instructions on the Consulate's webpage. Some may not apply to your particular case (e.g. waivers) but it's a pretty comprehensive site. I highly recommend reading through.

Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and get my wife to do her Medical and ASC the same day in Juarez a couple days before her interview.

My question: Do I absolutely have to register and schedule her Medical and ASC appointment beforehand through that internet link? Or can we just show up early at 5:30 am to get it taken care of on the spot?
