Jean went for her scheduled two day exam today. She had her Appointment of confirmation for her interview on April 27th as required by their website. She did not receive her letter to her address that confirmed that the K-1 was approved. The guard would not let her go to Saint Luke’s. The US Government has contracted this Hospital to exclusively perform the exams of immigrant and nonimmigrant exams. I now question why the Embassy does not follow their own policy. On their website they explain that they would accept the documents that my fiancée provided. This is total abuse by Saint Luke’s Guards. I was on the phone for several hours today talking to the Manila Embassy. Even though our documents have been with the Manila embassy and my fiancées address has been checked 2 times, she has not received the letter from the Manila Embassy. It is a catch 22. She is scheduled for her interview on April 27th at 6:30 am. I am very upset! What in the hell are the government employees doing? I am also a Government Employee working for the Departement of Transportation; I think that I am going to go forward with a Congressional Investigation on the Manila Embassy. The big question is why the Embassy is allowing Saint Luke’s to not go by US policy? All my documents have been exact and precise. As an American citizen, I will not tolerate this behavior.

hi! i just did my medical last tuesday,I have my letter from US Embassy which i take it with me,some applicant had never received those but if you have the NVC letter stating the Beneficiary's name and Manila case number on it that would be fine,as the ST Lukes will stamp with date on it and put the PDS number...if you do have your NVC letter with the name and case number of the beneficiary scan and email it to her...goodluck!!!

Because the guards there would go for what ever is just mandated to them. So if the list of St Luke's requirement says 2 copies of appointment, passport, etc then your lovey should provide them or else she wont get it. Problem is, the rules of St Luke's as I have noticed is not exactly parallel with the US Embassy. An advance medical is even doable but the guards there are of one-track mind, so I recommend e-mail to her your NVC approval with case number on it, I forgot what it's called.

That sounds like a issue with the security guard (s) - the interview appointment confirmation has been used a gazillion times in the past.

All that is needed for the walk-in medical at St. Luke's is the NVC Letter with MNL number or just the MNL#, Valid passport, Photocopy of Passport Biographic/Data Page, 4 pieces recent 2x2 visa photos, Appointment letter from the Embassy or Instruction letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), if available, and 2 photocopies of your Appointment Letter/ Instruction Letter.

If she had all of these requirements. Then there shouldn't have been a problem.

I totally understand your frustration and discontent with the guard at St. Luke's. This not the first or last time a beneficiary has experienced this issue at SLEC. Your complaint will be noted, filed and that will be it. As far any action being taken on misunderstanding of procedure by the security guard. Slim to none.

I would advice calling St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLEC) and confirming the requirements. Stating the day Jean will return to SLEC. If it makes a difference, you can mention the incident to the customer service personnel. Ask if there is a way to ensure this does not happen a second time.

Once you have received your NOA2 Approval Letter from USCIS. On average it takes 3 - 5 business days for USCIS to send the approved petition to NVC. It could take longer. Once NVC receives your approved petition. They will assign a MNL Case#. You need to call NVC to obtain your MNL case number. All you need is your MNL# to proceed with the Visa Application and Medical.

On the interview date she will have a time most likely 6:00 - 6:30 AM to be at the Manila USEM. She needs to have all her required documents in hand, appointment letter, and passport. Again refer to K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions as for what is needed. Make sure she has all papers organized. It makes for a easier processing at the embassy and shows seriousness. Buy a organizer with tabs. Label the tabs for each requirement.

Once at the embassy, she will fall in line. They will take her appointment letter, check passport and assign her a number. At the embassy they don't allow any electronic devices.

You are not allowed to enter the U.S. Embassy/Consulate while carrying any of the following items:

They will give her a form to fill out on how to deliver the passport with visa. Either it's deliver to her home address or she can go pick it up at a 2GO location.

Once inside, she will need to look on the board for her number to be called. She will go to the window and ask for her paperwork. Then she will be finger printed. They will tell her to wait again. Once her number flashes again, she will have her first interview with Filipino consulate. They will ask her a few questions and check and process her documents. (MAKE SURE SHE HAS ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS). If all is in order she answered all questions to satisfaction. She will then wait again for her number to flash again on the board. Then she will have her final interviewer US consulate. Consulate will process her paperwork and ask a few questions. If all is in order she will be told to wait again for her number to flash. Then she will go to the 2GO window where they will take her passport. They will give her a receipt (make sure to ask if they do not give one).

That's it for the USEM interview. You can now breathe a little easier.

The following forms may come in handy:

Sworn statement that advice of parents or guardian has been asked. (for those who are 21-24 years old)

Consent to marriage of a person under age. (for those who are 18-20 years old)

Marriage applicants who are age 18 to 21 must have parental consent in writing, those age 21 to 25 must have written parental advice (a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry). The revised Family Code of the Philippines, which took effect on August 4, 1988, prohibits marriage for individuals below the age of 18.

If your fiancé passes her Medical They will give her a date to come back to SLEC and get her results and medical will CD of chest X-ray

Embassy/Consulate while carrying any of the following items:

battery-operated or electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital diaries, digital watches, pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppy disks, laptops, or portable music players

large shoulder bags/purses - only bags that can be carried by hand will be permitted

bags such as travel bags, backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, leather, cloth bags, and zip folders - you can only carry plastic bags containing application-related papers

food items (refreshments are available for purchase in the waiting area)

sealed envelopes or packages

cigarettes, cigars, match boxes, lighters

sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files

weapons or explosive materials of any kind

If she needs her cell phone they will ask her to check it in at the security section. They will give her a card so she can retrieve at the end of interview.

Now if there is a problem. They will give a 221g form and state what the issue is. Now you will need to get them whatever they want in order to proceed. Now this is pull a long process when your in Admin Review. Look on VJ for Admin Review stories.

It will take 5 - 10 days for 2GO to receive visa and passport from USEM.

Requirements for Attendance to Guidance and Counseling Program

Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;

Duly completed guidance and counseling form;

If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)

CFO link.

U.S. Department of State link.

The quote above is from the section where they are talking about getting married in the Philippines. However, the CFO has been known to require parental advice or parental consent from K-1ers.

It's all on the Consular's discretion whether they require consent from a parent or guardian.

If you think this is as bad as St Lukes Medical Exam / DOT center gets, think again. Where shall I start? Let's start with phone number on the SLEC website. Half the time, the menu options don't work - you get an automated recording saying "the extension you entered is invalid", even though that's not correct. Sometimes you get bounced around back and forth for a simple question and end up where you started. That's the first thing. Second, nobody seems to be able to state what the policy is clearly for people going through DOT treatment regarding missed daily medicine doses - some say you can miss and they just add the time to the back end of the 6 month treatment, others say you need a letter, etc. My wife had been treated prior for infertility issues due to PCOS by an OB GYN years before at another St Lukes facility, when she mentioned this to the doctor doing the physical, he asked to see the medical records despite the fact that infertility has nothing to do with any medical concerns affecting immigration. The specialist, one of the best, basically brought the guy down to size (about 6 inches) and then he shut up and didn't ask for them any more. The one bright spot are the DOT nurses, they are very sweet people.
