Ok I have a 10 year greencard in married name and my passport is still in maiden name. obviously both have my picture in it. we have to leave to leave in about an hour to get our flights back to the UK and i can't find our marriage certificates. I thought I knew where they went but we have moved and they must have been put somewhere in the masses of stuff we have been unable to unpack yet.I usually have the marriage certificate just in case they pick holes when we come back about the card and passport being different. what do I do?we have the copy of the form we filled out for the certificate. just not the certificate. should i worry?

The Greencard is all you need for re-entry into the USA. It's certainly proceedural to verify your identity at the port of entry. And there's no better way of doing that than those 3 items that you mentioned.

So yes, if they ask for it, you will need your certificate of marriage proving your name change. But an officer with common sense will realize and understand this common situation.

My wife came home from Canada without a Marriage Certificate. And her passport is in her maiden name, and her greencard is in her married name. So in summary, I wouldn't worry.

Have a nice trip. Show your green card and passport when you get back. IF they ask, tell them you got married. It happens
