Hi everybody,

I have a couple of questions regarding the police reports for the second package (DS-230)

My father have to collect two police reports - one from Russia and another from Belarus.

He got the police report from Belarus when he was there 1.5 ago and never entered the country since. Needless to say that it already expired. I read on another forum that if you can prove that you never entered the country since the date on the report, the report still be good. There are no board/customs control between Russia/Belarus, so we don't have any evidence to support this.

So, my strategy is to send whatever we have at this point (the expired report) and attach the letter of explanation, hoping to not get a RFE for DS-230.

Meanwhile try to get the new police report and bring it to the interview, just to be on a safe side.

Does it sound about right or I am going to slow the process down instead of make it faster?

All comments are highly appreciated :)

For how long you father being or lived in Belarus?

You can try to contact Belarus Embassy and see if they can help in obtaining the certificate.

He was born there and lived there until he was 25. He moved to Russia when married to my mom and have visited his relatives every other year or so.

He is in Russia right now and it's going to be easier to right a power of attorney document than go through the Embassy.

I just thought that it will be very slow and since the police report will probably expired anyway by the time of the interview, we might just postpone getting it until later.

What are the chances of getting RFE for the expired police records if my letter of explanation do not satisfy them?
