I-129F Via Lagos Nigeria

Greetings and salutations.

I am in the planning stages of submitting a I-129F for my fiance to join me here in the US and I have some questions specifically regarding Nigeria. Waiting to receive her G-325A form in the mail for inclusion in the package to submit (has to have her original signature or can I copy suffice?).

As most will know we are still a wee bit lacking in technology in certain areas of Nigeria, as an example we are having trouble finding a CyberCafe that can print a blank G-325A form out for her.

(1) In the application it has me listing my fiances address in Nigeria. I am assuming for mail delivery, but home mail delivery is spotty to non existent in her city, except to a PO Box. So when the Embassy sends information to her in Nigeria will they also copy me the petitioner in the US so that I can follow up for her? Or will they be sending me the petitioner all the communications? I did provide a phone number in the application.

(2) In case my fiance becomes pregnant during the process (a moment of dumbness on our part), how will this affect the process? I would hate for her to give birth in Nigeria, will the offspring have US citizenship or will I have to add the offspring to the application?

I would love to discuss with others that have petitioned for Nigerian fiances.

Thank you for your time.

It must have her real signature , most forms without signature can be scanned or whatever but all signatures must be original. Not sure what to advise about the cafe , what area more extactly are you at. The address is as much for sedning out investigators as it is for mail delivery, most things are done by email. They are aware how spotty mail is there so they avoid it.

If she is pregnant nothing happens, the visa is processed at the same pace and she will give birth in Nigeria. The child will be a USC through you via consular report of birth abroad and travel on a US passport.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

No worries about the mailing address, you (as the Petitioner) will be copied on everything important regarding your case and as NigeriaorBust said, they know the postal service is unreliable and don't typically use it.

Regarding giving birth in Nigeria, rest assured that millions of women have done it before her! I gave birth to our son in Nigeria in 2010 and this is what I told myself over and over again. There were no problems at all and it was a very empowering experience for me. There are competent doctors (Nigerian and foreign) to be found in Nigeria if you take the time to do your research and ask around.

On a side note--I'm surprised you are having a hard time finding a reliable internet cafe in Ibadan.... It is a major city (the 3rd largest in Nigeria) and should have plenty of options.

Best of Luck to you on this interesting and often challenging journey!

Thanks for the feedback.

The issue with the Cybercafe thing was that they have to help her search for a specific form. I finally just texted her the direct url and that seemed to have worked.

I didn't mean to suggest that Nigeria lacked competent OBGYN physicians, I am a proud Nigerian born male, in Ibadan to be exact. I work in the medical industry here in the US and it is just a personal choice not to go through the gestation period in Nigeria if it can be avoided, but I carry that blame solely in any eventuality.

Thanks once again.

PS: I have everything together now and just waiting for her G-235a? form, letter of intent and a photograph to complete the package.
