How long do I have to wait for Biometrics?

Hello Everyone!

I sent all my papers to Chicago (I 130 - I 485 and others) to Chicago on the 12th of March and on 21st I got in the mail my 4 notifications saying that they recieved and to wait for my biometrics appointment. My question is, HOW LONG is it going to take for the Biometrics appointment letter to arrive? How long does it usually take? I am making AOS from B1/B2 visa.

She didnt ask how long did it take for your bio to arrive? she's asking what to expect in her own case

or simply put it varies & thus It will depend on when your local ASC office can schedule you for an appointment

It sure looks like she's asking for the experience of others to inform the HOW LONG part?!! Yours seems to be the least useful of all responses here.

The time will vary based on your local office and how many other cases they are processing. My bio appointment notice took 6 weeks and was scheduled for 2 weeks after that (so 8 weeks from receipt notice to appointment). I thought it seemed pretty long compared with other's experiences (most get an appointment notice within 30 days and some within a couple of weeks) -- however, my AOS was approved just 2 weeks after the bio appointment, so my process as a whole has been pretty short (I was adjusting from H1B). The key is to try and relax during the process :) GOOD LUCK!!

As you can see you will get all sorts of answers with that kind of question. The reason for that is as USCIS says on their website...there are no set rules on timelines - it can vary, as has been shown, greatly from location to location.

Most of the really long waits seem to be coming from the east coast around New York..there is quite a backlog there.

Personally speaking you can see my dates in the signature below - notice within two weeks and appointment around a month...that seems to be the "general timeframe" but don't be upset or panic if it happens to be longer.

As another poster said, through this process the biggest favor you can do yourself is just relaxing and try to be patient.

July 2005 - met my awesome, hot, amazing love in Lousiana.
July 2006 - Married said love and moved to Canada.
June 2011 - Entered US to visit family, decided to stay.
Feb. 2012 - Sent paperwork to Chicago.

May 2012 - Received green card.

I'm not sure why you're so angry about the community responding to those who are asking for information? It's very unfortunate. :crying:

If people are looking for an 'expert' opinion, they would be asking an immigration attorney, no?!! :help:

The intent here (correct me if I'm wrong) is for people to SUPPORT each other, and share their experiences. So, yes....that's EXACTLY what I did in my 'essay' :dance:

Actually if a person wanted an expert opinion, the last thing they would do is ask an immigration attorney. ;)

To the topic, in regards to Sacremento office, I believe there is a section on the forum where you can get reports from specific locations.

Try putting Sacremento in the search bar and read through the threads that come up.

Ok guys its 30 days from the notice datea (NOA 1) and i have NOT recieved my appointment for biometrics In NOA1 it says very clear that the next step is my biometrics and i should get a letter for it... but nothing! I saw March filers forum and lots of them who sent their package before me has already gotten their dates or already gone for it.

My local office I think iS Sacramento.. why is it taking sooo longggg
