DOES ANYONE EVER JUST WANT TO NOT LIVE IN AMERICA

I lived there -- it had its pluses and minuses

Now we live here in the US -- it too has its pluses and minuses

One of the big minuses here so far has been the immigration process -- the cost, the period without working, the terminable wait, the paperwork, the time apart, the days taken off work to go to interviews and infopass appointments.

I often wonder if I had a crystal ball when I was making the decision to come back to the US if I would have made the same decision

So why don't people move to their partners countries???

I would love to live in the UK, but the cost of housing and the relatively restricted job market made it an easy choice for us not to. When my husband first saw what sort of home he could buy here at half the cost of a comparable property in Wiltshire, his jaw literally dropped wide open. His favorite souvenir from his first trip to the US was a local real estate magazine (and I've always thought Asheville is expensive!). It still gets ooohs and ahhhs from friends and family, more than two years later!

 We are buying a house here...my husband looked at me the other day and said "we are borrowing 200,000 pounds to buy a house.......and that is last time I am going to say that out loud"

I'm definitely having one of those weekends! My husband got laid off from his job on Friday and then yesterday, the cats mauled and destroyed my brand new shoes that had been worn only once! Right this second, I'm ready to jump ship and head back to the UK...minus the shoe-destroying feline companions of my husbands!!

Well, we are actually planning to make this move ,only two years from now, which will allow an opportunity for my fiance(e) to receive a green card in the U.S. so we will have the option of living in either country. With my retirement income and liquidating all my personal belongings and real estate we could live a very decent lifestyle with no mortgage. The country is beautiful and many areas are still unspoiled. Think of the Hawaiian landscape and you'll have a good snapshot of what the country looks like.

Me and my husband will definitely move to Germany in some years. Right now, the US is the better choice because of a) financial reasons and B) the husband's German is still pretty much non-existent. We're working on the language (and on the finances as well) so that we'll be able to move there as soon as we get tired of the US.

No money to support us during my living there, IF my 401(k) was a tad more padded, I'd do it...in a heartbeat.

I certainly have considered retiring there as it is a much easier lifestyle in Russia AND it is much cheaper to live there!

I still cannot believe I paid about $12 for take out for the family and I to eat 1 night! :o

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

DOES ANYONE EVER FEEL THAT MAYBE WE SHOULD JUST MOVE TO SOME OF THESE EXOTIC LOCATIONS AND FORGET THE USA. AFTER ALL THE TIME AND PAPERS AND THE POSSIBLE NO AND MONEY MAYBE WE SHOULD JUST PACK IT UP MOVE TO OUR SPOUSES COUNTRY AND LIVE A MORE SIMPLE FULFILLING LIFE. MAYBE I AM JUST HAVING A BAD DAY THOUGH? ANY THOUGHTS.

Go ahead.. that's the beauty of free choicein the USA. May I suggest Somolia. US$ goes a long way there.

Peter Miami

Aw !! come on now Peter, those sugar cane fields, the banana trees, coffee plants, Andes mountain range, year round 80 degree temps at the higher elevations, the friendly people, slower pace of lifestyle and the cheap cost of living has got to be some attraction for you ? Ah !! but then there is that Miami night life.. OK I can understand. Myself I am retiring the beginning of next year so am looking to slow things down a bit.

I love this country, and some of the rights (or lack thereof) that we have. I dont think you can beat it all around, however retiring to another country with the option to return at anytime is definitely in my future! We plan to live a "double-life"....
