Hi there, I have a few questions that I am sure have been asked before and will probably be asked again in the future by others. But all of this AOS paperwork is confusing. I thought there was a lot of paperwork required for the K1 visa, but this is ridiculous.

Anyway my questions:

1. Where do I find my Non-immigrant Visa number to put on my I-485?

2. Since my wife is unemployed I will be using my mother in law to sponsor me. Do I need my wife to fill out an I-864 as well as my mother in law?

3. If my mother in law fills out an I-864 how is her income shown separated on her joint income tax return she filed with her husband? Would it be easier to get both my mother in law and father in law to sponsor me?

4. If I got my father in law to co-sponsor would he fill out an I-864 or an I-864A?

5. For the advance parole form, I don't know when or if I will even need it. What details do I use as it asks for when I intend to depart?

Sorry about all the questions

1, the visa number is the red number stamped on the visa.

2, yes your wife is required to fill out an 864. She is your petitioner.

3, not sure someone else can help with that one

4, not sure someone else can help with that one

5, you can put down an estimated date of travel outside the country or leave it blank. There is no required departure date. http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-131.pdf

Sorry about all the questions

1.) The red number towards the bottom right

2.) Yes. She was the petitioner and is your primary sponsor no matter how much she makes. She fills out an I-864 and the joint sponsor fills out their own separate I-864.

3.) If she makes enough for her household size plus you, then she can be the joint sponsor without needing her husband's income to be added to hers. You can send a copy of her W-2 along with her tax transcript to show for sure how much her income was alone.

4.) If she needs her husband's income added with hers to meet the 125% requirement for her household size(herself, spouse, dependent children, any other dependents claimed on her taxes, plus you), then her husband can fill out an I-864A and combine his income with hers on her I-864.

5.) Just put 'Unknown' for the travel date questions and check the box for more than one trip.

Check out the AOS thread in my signature. It should help you. Except please note the AOS fee is now $1070 (not $1010 as mentioned in that thread... I cannot change that)
